It's not the flex. I have a gold mine of Flex... it's more the wife and her lack of understanding of what it takes to game plan for a Crabs game...lol
If you guys want to hire a divorce attorney for me, now we're talking. And I would also need a replacement wife too... that's a fan of the Steelers and UK basketball... preferably in her "prime" years of 30-35.
Oh yeah.. and thanks to the tanked economy .. our house is worth about 35K less than what we owe on it...

Actually, I'd rather the crabs remain uncompetitive, but I wouldn't mind having a stat whore DT on your team. :-)
As to the rest, I hear you... Flex is cheap, divorce is not.
Of course moving your services to another team can't be any healthier. :-)
I do think the Gold peeps need to support the Custom EQ suggestion...
I doubt if the pay over time will fly.. but at the least, I'd rather have the option of paying the 180 flex upfront instead of waiting for my 420 flex to come back to me at the end of the season.

I toyed with the idea of building some experimental players... for testing. I just don't want to train any more players...
I'm gonna break down and start cleaning up my defenses .. and organize my AI.. then it's CPU time!
Here's my suggestion:
Set up an AI.
Add whoever wants to be on the team to the team (let them know that there is no equipment fund, but max bonus and cash will happen).
Assign to depth chart.
Go CPU.
If memory serves, the CPU team actually holds the orgininal OAI, DAI, and Custom Defenses. The goal is to show:
a) how a good base AI can do without scouting b) to prove once and for all that you can win without messing with your AI if it is good enough to start with.
Players would still be able to change their tactics, but you would have 0 work to do once you went CPU.
I was in one last season and found I was competing vs a team that had boosted early. (I'll tell you the team prob would have kicked our ass anyway - GameCocks)
But the point is tournaments are taken out of the seasons context and therefore less relevant than playoffs.
Originally posted by Lone Star Mercs I'd say tournaments not as accurate as playoffs.
I disagree. Reason is that not all conferences in Silver are created equal. Take a random Silver league with one conference that has 2 Grade A teams and the rest are Grad B-F teams. The other conference has 1 Grade B team and the rest are Grade C-F. In that 1st conference, the 2 Grade A teams will have probably gone 16-0 and 15-1 and have had a good showing in the different tourneys. They will likely face each other in the conference finals. In the other conference, the Grade B team went 16-0 with no tourney wins and breezed through the playoffs until the championship game, where they got soundly beat by the Grade A team from the first conference.
Who deserves the spare Gold spot, the Grade B team that went 16-0 with no tourney wins, or the Grade A team with a number of solid tourney wins and a loss in the conference finals?
I am not saying this happened, only that it could. This is a very black and white example and most times something in the gray area will happen, but it's something to consider.
In my personal oppinion I think Who touched my peewee (WTMP) deserves to be in GOLD, the undefeated Whistle Pigs battled it out with them in the championship and barely pulled off a win, holding us to a measley 10 points, which many teams could not do.
Their performance in the Silver Tournament also shows plenty of their skill level and I do think they belong here rather than a CPU team.
