Not taking the promotion is the biggest bunch of HORSE SHIT in this game. I understand the "it's not in our teams best interest" argument...I also Consider this crap. This is the freaking best league in the game, if your goal isn't to get here........ GUT. Give the hell up. You shouldn't be allowed to own a team if you turn down a shot to play the best.

The Ohhhh, I can't compete whine is crap. If your dots are good enough to get here you have a shot. I totally underestimated Providence coming into this season because they were out leveled BIG time. Turns out the had great game planners and some sick dots and they are coming back next year. That team should be the poster boys for not allowing teams to decline and stay where they are. If you Decline you should be forced to demote to AAA and waste a year.

The fact that teams punk out of promotion to this league is a joke and should not be allowed. Simple as that.

I would go a step further....decline and you have to demote to a capped league with a roster reset.

+1 on the it shouldn't be allowed...there are plenty of teams that are demoting out of the WL that would sell their left nut to stay here (thinking specifically of the two that finished 9-7 but there are likely others)...to have teams refuse promotion and get another shot at winning their pro league again is just the lamest of the lame.

I understand your frustration but what you also have to consider is what are the teams goals.

#1 Win a WL championship
In my eyes that is the only goal. So how do you accomplish that?

IMO to stand the best chance at doing that you need to have the majority of your dots at one season before decline, and entering the WL, and they all need to have lvl 64 EQ. If you go to the WL too early you risk the chance of being demoted and missing out on your "window". Of course if you don't promote you risk the chance of not making it, but if you don't make it you have no business being there in the first place, so nothing lost.

If you are not a team that merges you really need to plan to hit the WL around lvl 67, and take a 2 season shot at winning it all. If you don't have lvl 64 equipment you won't win ... all dots are great at this lvl.

There is no point in playing in a league that your dots get dominated due to being out lvl'ed. You can get away with that stuff in Pro Leagues, but you can't get away with it in the WL. Especially when you consider most the dots are at the end of their careers and are token boosting on top of the lvl advantage they have.

I used to think like you CV, but they have to do whats best for the franchise long term. They have to think about 3-5 years down the line and not just season to season.

There are 4 types of teams:
1) Mergers (these guys should always promote)
2) Recruiters (teams that plan to get and stay at the top by recruiting, these should always promote)
3) Reloaders (teams with Farm Systems) Probably only want to promote if it makes sense
4) Slow build teams (One group, no farm) Probably only want to promote if it makes sense

Both 3 and 4 only have a small window of opportunity and there really is a "right" time to strike and hit the WL level running. Its not about being a pussy, its about GLB's plateau system and being at the right lvl to compete.

Thanks as always for a bit of intellectually stimulating commentary DB, Also, not mad at all. We don't belong here next season plain and simple, we didn't do what we had to do. So my post is far from a reaction to my team not being in the WL, but rather an expression of my feelings on teams that qualify to promote here and and bail out on that.

how de we reconcile the argument against teams declining who know they'll do poorly, with the argument that the WL is a sham because the best teams arent here?

the first two seasons here it was "the world league sux, usapl has too many great teamz."

now it's "teams that cant compete who dont want to come here are pussies."

i think if there were a broader search amongst all leagues to find the best teams to take open spots, as opposed to mining the depths of a league's playoff bracket for anyone who'll accept, there might be less of both of those arguments.

maybe if a shitty APL team had ascended to the WL ranks instead of dakar sticking around, MEM would have made the playoffs, and CV would be happier. but as it stands with the whole APL fiasco last season, the WL had slightly better competition. what's wrong with that?

Not about my happiness what so ever...It's about teams not being allowed to punk out. You win the shinny Pro Jpeg...You promote. Simple as that NO OPTION.

You left out the Casual Team option for those that really don't want to compete. Many people play this game "just for fun" and their idea of fun isn't necessarily winning every game. Casual leagues with no advanced AI is the perfect place for them if all they want to do is have some fun.

Teams that "don't care about winning" don't win pro championships.

People decline WL promotion because they prefer to continue winning rather than have a tough season.
