Hi Steve - I have one question about recruiting
And it's an honest question - I don't want to blame you for staying in APL - you had the option to do so, so it's ok by the rules of the game
Now my question: Isn't your team more well known, because you already played a year in the world league, and doesn't that help more with recruiting than a APL trophy ?

To be honest I didn't know the WWR from Africa - I know them because they played in the WL

Your team has been in Africa for many seasons... how could you not know WWR from Africa

Hi HerrWuff

Is my team well known because of the World League? No... My agents boycotted the main forum cause it wasn't fun, and we basically just hung out in the APL forums while we were up there. I honestly hate arguing... its not fun for me. If you notice in these forums, I don't argue very much, just ignore. So I barely think teams even knew we were there. lol

Recruiting...
Going to the WL, was it easier to recruit? Yes... a little bit easier. But that brings in agents that just want to be along for the ride and will dump you if you have a tough season... Its a no-win situation.
Does an 8-8 record being sent back to your region help you recruit? Absolutely not.
Does being good in Africa help? It doesn't hurt... but to most agents still have the "LOLAfrica" mentality. Teams owners and agents that are affiliated with the other pro leagues have more of an advantage... I've basically made my home in Africa and really don't travel too much out of here. Most teams I am on are either owned by one of my Rhinos, or people I have worked with in the past.

WWR, whether they like it or not, is most known for one thing outside of APL. :/

If you are referring to "MentorGate"... Yes, that definitely created a lot of negative attention.

Which is unfair, because you guys were good before that ever happened and after as well.

I agree that it is unfair, but even to the people of the committee who followed the Pro leagues incessantly, WWR was always a tough team to get a grasp on. They always seemed to come through when it mattered though and then in S10, they just blew up and were dominating the game thanks to some ridiculous FF numbers and ST play. Then, they became truly known in the game right before the entire mentor gate thing (which other teams were accused of, but not linked to as much) happened.

Truth is... The first half of that season, mentor did give us a crazy boost. Then when we all found out it was a bug and was corrected, we only ended up losing one game that season to the undefeated Angola Spider Monkeys and then made it to the Championship game and lost to DD. The teams we beat earlier on just got beat worse then normal. The only team that would have made a game of it with us was the Sea Wolves... We all wish we could have replayed that game.

The reason we were unknown was because we were in Africa (where we already won 2 Championships), we never entered any tournaments (cause I didn't want to burn out my coordinators) and my agents aren't attention whores. So we jump in a tournament (cause I had 2 OCs and 2 DCs) and people were like "Who the fuck are they?" As soon as Mentor Gate was over, we went back to playing like usual, with a good record, but no one cares cause we are in Africa.
Honestly, I've been perfectly happy with that. So is my team.

True story Joe... There is a difference though.. Para was running the offense the first game and intentionally threw the game. He was trying to get Borts attention. If I remember correctly, kalkmanc was on vacation and when he came back, his AI was missing and Para took over both offense and defense. I only knew this because kalkmanc came to me asking if I knew of a coordinating gig he could look into. To be honest, if kalkmanc was the OC all season, you guys could have been undefeated.

Needless to say, kalkmanc finished OCing that season and led you guys to a championship.

(To add to this, we got an apology from you guys running the exploit on us over and over... Also a true story.)

Trust me I know the whole story. It's not just because you were in Africa though. The fact that you played in lolion AND didn't enter any tournaments was what made you guys so difficult to gauge. Still have more Pro Golds than MEM or a lot of top teams, so hats off to you guys.
