Um...Walker I think is the name. God, I hate living in Bungles TV hell.

And just for comparison..... Jim Brown 6'2" 215.

Agree hatchman that today's D Line/O Line/ and LBs are bigger and faster. However I guess the way to look at it is put some of the older players behind the current lines and who would be successful. I think personally that everyone mentioned here so far would be very successful all these men were a cut above. Just with Jim Brown he looked like a men among boys when he played. If he had come up in today's game he probably would still shine.

Here is my top 2...
1. Barry Sanders - One of the worst teams, and he still got it done!
2. Jim Brown - It tough cause its like comparing Wilt to Michael Jordan... different eras, both Jim and Barry dominated there time.

Honorable Mentions:
Sweetness
Emmit Smith
LT
Earl Campbell
Bo
Marshall Faulk
Gale Sayers
Eric Dickerson
OJ
AllDay will make this list at some point.

Well what is new, I disagree with everyone ....To me Barry was a quitter. I do give him credit, that when he said he was done, he stayed retired. So he was a man of his word.
It is funny, Aikman gets no credit for being a great QB, since they had a great O line, WR, HB...Emmitgets no credit since, he had a great line, a good QB, a great D....Irvin gets no credit, since he had Aikman, Emmit, would push off.

My all time back the one who has the record Emmit Smith, played hurt, played tough, a true team player. Hell he even won dancing with the Stars

Barry Quit because he lost his love for the game. He was the consumate team player. Hell he carried Detroit on his back and then the franchise crapped on him. As far as Emmitt being the best there is no way. He was a player that wouldn't have had close to his stats on another team. He is a product of Jerry Jones buying the championships. hell to be able to play in dallas you have to have a felony charge of some sort.

Barry was forced to not love the game... lol Detroit basically said "We aren't trading you, this team will always suck but you sell tickets, your trapped!" Barry said "Piss Off" and Detroit has been cursed ever since. lol

Emmit was durable... put Barry behind that line and Moose as his FB and forget about it!

agreed. barry was running for his life almost every time he touched the ball and still managed to make defenses looked silly. do that for 10 seasons and never win shit and eventually its just not worth it anymore. emmit was a good running back, but the players around him made him into a superstar. he'd have been for shit in detroit.

No homerism here at all...

Who would think Vegas would choose the RB who stayed in the longest...

I don't buy into the Emmitt was was a product of his team, that is the biggest load of crap going. The guy could flat out run the ball but even more, he was one tough son of a bitch when he played. Yes his teams were loaded, but the guy was a horse and is worthy of Top 5 consideration. On the flip side, Barry a quitter, are you kidding me? I have loads of respect for that guy because he loved the game and didn't care about the fact he could have rewrote the record books.

Emmitt is no doubt a top 5-10 back of all time, but he isn't on the same level as Jim Brown, Barry, or Walter.

Gotta look at the timing as well with Barry - he left in his prime about same time sweetness passed who was his idol and good friend. He left easilly able to destroy the record books if he played another 2-3 seasons.

Emitt... well he didnt get the record in Dallas and his final 3 years was what 2100 total yards?? he played 3 seasons to break a record and give a small cushion while he sucked. 1000 yard season is a mere 66? yards per game? And his final 3 seasons he couldnt do that... yes top 10 but not top 5 back with likes of players mentioned already - Barry, Sweetness, Csonka, Jim Brown, Gale Sayers, OJ....

Again the flippin idiots of GLB...Yes Emmit got the record with Dallas, in Dallas against Seattle......PS Barry playing on carpet was one knee injury from being done.....You can say Barry was better, that is fine....But know what you are talking about when it comes to Emmit...YOU TARD

Barry Sanders was the most athletic running back of all time. However, I do not think that he would have done any better than Emmitt had he been in Dallas. His style was such that he actually made the line look worse than it was. He was very slow in hitting the hole, where Emmitt was better than almost all other backs at doing that. Emmitt made the line better, where Barry exposed his linemen.

Athletic in that he could have played lacrosse for a major college as well as he played football? Usually the most athletic starts and finishes with Jim Brown, but Bo Jackson would certainly be more of an athlete than Barry. Barry just had loads of juke and spin, with tons of AE in break tackle!
