Why you ask? The QB's contract is up at the end of the season (http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=229001) and he's reached that age where most coaches would suggest to him it time to retire and attempt to finally transition the backup QB into the role (ala the Favre at GB situation).
So he was simply showing off his arm, to prove to the coaches on his own team and those recruiters watching the game film that he still has a canon of an arm (getting it all the way to the endzone).
....that or he just F'd up!!!

That's great, Under pressure the qb just takes the ball and chucks it randomly 50 yards down field. Can I sign him as my punter?
