You can't 'respect the game', don't be an idiot. It's a game. It doesn't care.

mods pls ban anyone posting about 'respect for the game' in this thread from now on as it is offtopic and essentially trolling at this point.

Your idea is good though I like the one in suggestions better where the only games that count for stats are those against the eight playoff teams. The eight teams are already tracked game-by-game anyway for the playoff screen. The only thing it wouldn't prevent is late season gutting by playoff teams and collusion between playoff teams for seedings both of which do happen on occasion.

Also, it isn't respect for the game that people are raelly refering to. It's obviously respect for other people here that are also paying to enjoy the game. Bort needs to start swinging a ban hammer with people that treat others like dirt including the few mods that he has left in that category, it's the only way to slow it down. Calling those with concerns about this 'idiots' just furthers the point that you and your group is a main issue that needs to be dealt with. People will only pay to be part of something for so long if a small group is allowed to be such problem for so many.

The lack of respect for other peoples ability to enjoy the game is with out a doubt the biggest issue here. The Select few that are abusing the integrity of the game are taking away from the enjoyment factor for the rest of those playing.

Has been pitched before - but in light of the recent 'scandal that shall not be named' -

Modify the 'league leaders' so that stats are figured on a per game basis - and only games against other playoff teams count. So the 'league leaders' would be re-calculated every game based on players' performance against only those teams in the top 8 positions (or top 7 if you play on a team that is currently in 1-8 - that is why the per game average stat is needed).

The Good:
- Blowout games against gutted teams no longer count toward trophies
- Trophies go to players that performed the best against the best teams in the conference
- No more 'fixing' - meaning throwing a game to get stats - or running specialized game plans against gut jobs to get player X the most stats
- In general - would give a MUCH better picture of where stats are in general (since gut jobs will be removed by default)
- I would suggest that same 'formula' apply to the MVP calculations - that way everything is nice, neat and tidy

The Bad -
- Some people love their gut job stats and want them to count for trophies
- Would require some amount of programming time

edit: as an example - based on the current sim - the player that win's the "Most Sacks" would probably have something like 1.2 sacks per game against playoff competition
The player with the most Int's would probably have something like .4 Int/Game.
The winning yardage QB might have something like 270 yards per game and the winning TD might be something like 3.5 TD/game (all guesses)

Agreed. Lack of respect for the game is a symptom of the sim being utter shit. Let's fix the cause.

Heard the same rant from the same people for 12 seasons now YET they still keep playing. Sim is actually better than it has ever been. Is it perfect HELL NO. It is fairly decent at this point, and BS moves like Hali pulls aren't helping fixing it.

I agree.

There is a difference between running up the score (which can happen in any competitive sport) and point shaving/game fixing, etc which is banned in almost every competitive sport.

Actually, yes they are. That "BS move" created a reaction to prevent "BS moves" from happening in the future.

Banned which prevents it from openly happening, but it still happens. Money talks in those cases. Wait, I guess it does with this game too.

I said don't post about respect, it's an entirely subjective concept that noone is ever going to agree upon. This thread is about how to fix the game, not fix society.
