Everyone should decide for themselves when they want their player to peak. Investing in SAs early doesn't make you a bad player, it just gives you an earlier advantage at the expense of late career performance.
I used to have a KR based CB, where I dumped a butt load of points into SAs starting at L16. I had an awesome trophy collection, including 1 S.T. MVP and an assortment of gold, silvers and a couple bronzes. This last season he was past his prime (L38), so I retired him. Now I'm working on my next batch of killers with all the SPs I got back from retiring that 1 player.
I'd just rather have a fairly constant stream of good players...
Dude if your guys was past his prime at lvl 36 you royally screwed his build. I had an OG/PR i slept on him for 2 seasons and the dumped 90+ SP into strength and carrying and led league in TDs two straight years. Taking a PR to the house against back up DDD league players 4 times a game was cool I admit but like you said he was around the same level when I retired him. He would have made a beastly FB but the OOP Penalty was highly visible so I retired him. I like to win at the highest levels at anything I do, thats why I slowbuild and thats why I come to these forums. I dont know how anyone can say there is no benefit in slowbuilds. You warp ahead 3 levels and get 15 SP, I get to train for all 3 of those levels and still get 15 SP. Factor in the SP +'s I get from training and iM sure its works out to about 25 SP I ended up getting during those 3 levels you never even saw. I understand instant gratification though. I just feel this game is way too polluted with guys who finally come together at lvl 60 and end up costing a supremely build lvl 45 or 50 guy because owners only worry about the present.
