I never said that Peyton Manning was the greatest quarterback. In fact I didn't say anyone was greater then anybody. Everyone has there arguments on there favorite quarterback, and if your favorite qb is Tom there is NOTHING i can say that will magically make you dislike him and like Peyton. If you want my opinion, Peyton has been Great in the regular season and has 3 MVP awards and a SB. Tom does great in the playoffs and has 1 MVP and 3 SB's.
I personally think we will truly see how good Bill is at getting his players to play when we start to see Matt Cassell stink it up in Kansas City.
Well first off, I agree that there's nothing anybody says that is going to change anyone else's mind. If there is an argument about who's the better QB between Brady & Manning, there are cases for both that would make either side better than the other in certain situations.
Manning is the best Technical QB the game has ever seen, in that his mechanics are flawless, and he has a nearly unmatched ability to read & understand defenses on the fly & make successful adjustments. He is a prototypical passer in that he has the height, arm strength, vision, intelligence, and leadership to be the headmaster of ANY offense. He HAS had the best offensive weapons at his disposal for the last 10 years (including a running game btw, don't know why anyone would think otherwise), and that cannot be disputed, but it's not just the weapons he's had that made him great. His numbers alone make a statement that he needs to be considered at the top in the "who's the best QB" discussion every time, and now that he finally got over the Superbowl hump that evaded him for so long, he should be considered #1 or at least #2 in any discussion in my opinion.
Brady is the best clutch QB the game has ever seen (yes, I know i'm gonna hear it from Montana fans), and his presence in the pocket is simply unmatched. Although his mechanics were not as sharp as Peyton, his mechanics have developed over the years & allowed him to become the all around consensus #1 QB today. He has the Superbowl rings & MVP awards to back up his numbers, and they all came with him having a receiving corp of "nobody's". He now owns the biggest record in QB statistics, and is also perhaps the main reason the Patriots had their undefeated season. As a Niner fan myself, it's hard for me to say it but I think at this point he's passed Joe Cool as the best QB in league history.
Sorry if you don't agree, but I call em as I see em.
And Brett, I'll bet an inch off my fairly long pekker that Cassel will not be the problem in KC. If KC fails, it will not be due to the QB position, as Thigpen was pretty darn good there last year & the team fell apart in other areas. So your argument there about Bellichick (or however you spell it) is mute.
I agree when Edge was there Peyton had a good running game, but defense wins championships.
I also liked what Tyler Thipen was doing last year to, i wanted to see him play more this year.
I just noticed that: Peyton has 1SB 3MVPs..........while Tom has 3SBs 1MVP isn't that a coincidence.
Also Joe Montana i think was the most clutch QB to play. But Tom i can get why he'd be in consideration, he was a 7th Round Draft choice so when he's in the game he has nothing to prove just goes out and plays football, that's why he's so clutch. (Of course i'm talking about in his early years)
