We at C85 go through this every year. We lull you to sleep with our "lack" of defense just to pounce on some unsuspecting team later in the season. Also bear in mind we played likely the 2 best offenses in our conference thus far in GRitS and the Dogs.

The write up is great. I would love to read more from you in the future.

Hard to say the Dogs are "likely" the #2 offense in the conference when they haven't played ANY of the top 5 scoring defenses out there yet, whereas we have faced the top 3 and other teams have similar schedules. Our defense has faced GRitS already and despite that beating are ranked top 5 in scoring D. The Dogs may be in the argument for the 2nd best offense, but I certainly don't think you can say they are "likely" it as there is pretty much no evidence to support that argument (Somalia has more points/game despite having played 2 of the top 5 scoring D already). Either way, the GRitS game is a duh, but giving up almost 100 is troublesome even against them. The bigger concern for me (and should be for you) is giving up 41 to Cardiff, a team that hasn't managed more than 24 against anyone else and is averaging 14 points against everyone else.

Well done, GMat.

So you don't like midseason gut jobs? For me - I love them. I love the way they totally screw over season stats not to mention a whole host of other pleasantries.

Drive me fuckin' bonkers. I don't like beginning of the season gut jobs, but I blame Bort & co. for basically incentivizing it. I can't stand people that fuck up the season by gutting mid way through. Nothing more classless to me than that in this game.

Dogs points this season - 260

ABD points this season - 172

Oh my RJ- I was just giving him some crap...Notice the smiley face...I know I know ABD sucks at everything...my bad.

Lazy DC IMO.

Our awful defense held a team under 200 yards passing today.

The Cardiff game bothered me too but it helped me find some things I did not like in the DAI.

I did the game plan for GRITS drunk and tried a lot of crazy shit that did not work too well, lol. Wait, I do every game plan drunk. Nevermind. o_O

Seeing as I may have more insight into the history of our team than most anyone else on this forum I would implore you to take my word for it that the Cardiff game was misleading. For some reason they always play us tough. Every team in this game has 1 or 2 teams that always give them fits and they are one of ours.

As for my statement about the Dogs offense, I stand behind it one hundred percent. You will not face a more dynamic and versatile offense than the one they have there. They can run, pass and run the Wildcat. They will drop it on you in any down and distance and in any formation. Add to that the extremely well built players and first rate coaching staff and you have a dangerous team on offense. So until someone can stop their express I stand by my statement that they are likely the second best offense. Notice I never brought statistics into the argument. If I did then we would have the best running game since Autry is leading the league. It isn't always about stats.

Giving up almost 100 against GRitS is knowing ahead of time you can't win without taking a risk. We knew that going into that game. We don't consider ourselves a slouch team but we are not on par with GRitS this season. So we took a ton of chances, banking on them running certain plays. We were wrong on almost every account. That will happen occasionally. Nothing to be embarrassed about. They are going to win this league this season. We gambled and lost big against them.

Finally, like URL said, as if on cue, our defense came out today and played exceptionally well against the vaunted KD passing game. That is a solid win for us and something to builds on.

Either way, loved the write up and look forward to reading the next.

Thanks for the props. I try to mix up a lot of formations and plays under each situation, otherwise it makes an offense too easy to stop, especially being a little under leveled at most positions. Being a DC on a few other teams helps a lot with offensive gameplanning since I know what tends to drive me crazy. For example, in todays game I expected them to sell out to the run on 4th and short, never knowing if the situation would even come up, and low and behold - http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=733544&pbp_id=8877700

Just wish our damn QB would stop fumbling, cost us potentially 14 points today.

I appreciate the props for the Dogs, but I don't think we're close to being a top 2 offense....yet. We are versatile and jsully does a great job mixing things up. It's nice to have an elusive back who can catch, a true power back, a qb who can run, power wrs, speed wrs, etc., but we also have to rely on a hb and fb who are 10+ levels below the rest of the league, and wrs that also have a ways to go. And my qb is fairly middle of the road imo, nothing spectacular. When we play some more of the top defenses, I think we will run into plenty of difficulty this season.
