You don't know how well someone is in coverage until you actually watch the replays. If someone has a shit load of PD's/Int's then they are likely getting thrown on all day, so then you have to look at their tackles. They may get 90 tackles a season but maybe only 45 of those are on passing plays, and they are a beast shutting down pitches. Maybe another 30 of those 45 tackles are on a man they were not assigned to, or while in zone. Now 15 tackles in a season on catches YOU allowed is a very good number. But then again, they could have burned you for 10 TD's on the year which shows up no where in your stats.
Once again, until they develop the stats "catches allowed" and "TD's allowed", then it is impossible to judge a CB by numbers alone.
You can use the game scout script to see catches allowed and therefore judge a CB by stats. As I posted earlier:

Very impressive amount of INTs. However, your CB also seems to get thrown to an excessive amount. Last season 59 of his tackles (81%) were on passes and on 41 of his PDs (47%) the WR still caught the ball anyway.
Like I said, a tackle on a passing play does not equal a catch allowed. Similarly, you can give up a catch without recording a tackle (beat for a TD or maybe the FS saves your ass after a 40 yard gain). And thirdly, defensive scheme plays a HUGE role in the stats you will record. One team may send 7 guys after the QB every play and leave their CB's out on an island while another might like to drop back into zones, giving up underneath passes with corners racking up tackles. Just like in real life, the same exact secondary is going to look A LOT better with a better pass rush. My Chargers are a prime example in these last 2 years, with and without Merriman.
