I'm with Chugga34 and head1... New England has an insane WR corp... If anyone was overrated it was Matt Cassell, but he'll have time to prove himself this season. Joey Galloway is so freaking fast, that's why he gets hurt. Speedsters run too fast for there hamstrings! lol But Moss is a freak, Wes is a perfect possession WR, and leave Galloway one on one in a foot race and not to many defenders will win that battle... he's just gotta stay healthy!

Add in a healthy Maroney and that's just a sick offense..

First Topic:
Patriots best NFL franchise over the last 10 seasons and will be back in the Superbowl this season....Discuss!

Cakeface ain't gettin another ring. Carface (Roflsburger) will get one more before Cakeface does.

msupoke - I wish I could agree, but Galloway never declined in speed. He'll either play slot on Moss' side or wide on Welker's side and just do speed routes to open up areas probably. Moss is still the best WR in the league. I know people think Fitz is just because he had 4 great games in a row, but really, outside of the jump ball, he's not an amazing WR on a consistent basis. He's top 5, but not #1. The only WR that contends with Moss is Andre Johnson atm.

I don't think the Pats will win because of their defense. Seymour's getting old. If Bruschi's still on the team, it won't be for long. Hobbs is gone. Springs is good, but he's coming off an injury. They have Adalius Thomas would is the most underrated LB/Dlineman in the game, and a very good 3-4 DL (Wilfork/Green/Seymour). However, they lost some of their key guys this year.

Without Bruschi, Hobbs, Harrison, or Vrabel, I don't see how they do it. They had another good draft, and they have some talent, but I think they're 2-3 years off from reloading. Then, Brady's a big question mark. Palmer thought he was fine after his knee surgery, but he wasn't. Their acquisitions were nice, but they were on offense and these guys are old.

I'd like to see how Burgess fits in. He was terrific in Philly and decent in Oakland. I still don't think a "moment's notice" DE and a more-or-less different defense than before will be a superbowl favorite.

Go Steelers imo.

And head1 - Moss had a brain. He was traded to Oakland. No one's breaking records in that offense or for that owner (since 1983 at least).

Edit: SAS - Well... only improperly trained speed guys. If you work your quads too much, your speed won't really suffer, but then you produce too much power one way without your antagonistic muscle being able to stabilize the joint (ant. muscle = hammies), so then you see the ACLs popping and the muscle tearing etc.

But yes, Cassel was overrated, NE's offense is a fuckin Ferrari.

soap is right. Palmer came back the next season after his injury, but he still favored that knee and it threw off his mechanics that season. I think Brady will be back to normal next season, but not this season.

To tell you the truth, that receiving corps in New England does not impress me. Galloway is an average thrid receiver. Moss has been good, but he is average as far as "go-to" guys go now. Welker is the only one who performs better than his role. Faulk is a good receiving HB, but if you are counting on the hands instead of the legs of a running back, you are in trouble.

I think New England is the favorite if they stay healthy. However, it is not their receiving corps that is carrying them.

The leading WR for TD's last season had 12, Moss had 11 coming from a first year QB who hadn't taken a snap since High School? Saying Moss is average is just ignorant, but opinions are opinions. Let's see what he does when they can't double him this season with Galloway being a deep threat and Welker doing his thing. News flash, the Patriots are not a running team, they come out and destroy people in 5 WR sets all day long, so why not have one of the best pass receiving RB's in the game, that being Faulk?

"The Patriots had four quarterbacks throwing to four receivers at a time.
Moss ran a corner route, turned back over his right shoulder and realized two quarterbacks thought he was their target and had released a ball right at Moss. The veteran casually caught both balls simultaneously with each hand and turned up to run for a touchdown."

The rest of the NFL better watch out! We're back!

Honestly they don't even need Joey Galloway. You could dress up a mannequin in a Patriots jersey and just stand him on the field and Welker and Moss would get open eventually. And you know what sucks the worst when you're playing the Patriots? Lets say by some sheer stroke of luck you actually found a way to cover both Moss and Welker. Well guess what, you never were actually covering Moss. When Moss wants to try theres never a time when he's not open. You could shift all 11 defenders to his side and he'd still be wide open and likely to come down with the jump ball.

But Lane Kiffin doesnt get that kind of pass for coaching there.

Still he showed his ass plenty in Minnesota too.

I fucking hate everything about the Patriots. I hate their team, I hate their owner, I hate their coach, I hate 95% of their players, I hate the fact that they sign role players *cough*Vrabel*cough* give them the easiest task in the world (run untouched at the QB) and then trade them off to idiot teams *cough*Chiefs*cough* who don't realize he's just a product of their system and will suck for them. And then they get a draft pick in return that they use to draft a player 50 times younger and more talented then the guy they got rid of.

But as much as I hate them, I realize a confident and determined Randy Moss is arguably one of the greatest WRs I'll ever watch play football.

So you hate them because they are good at what they do, is that what you are saying? Is Ben a product of the Steelers system as well? Hand off, Hand off, pass, punt....Rinse and repeat? I love the run untouched at the QB, why doesn't everyone have that play? Too bad about Buffalo, I say 4 games before TO acts up and causes that team to go spiraling backwards.

On another note, I wonder if the Patriots would have called for a bootleg in that situation last season for the Bills? You know, game on the line and coach calls for the old bootleg after pounding the ball up the middle!

If Moss had the work ethic of Jerry Rice or Terrell Owens...he WOULD have been the best.

WRs...

1. Andre Johnson
2. Randy Moss (when he wants to be, he's heads and shoulders above AJ)
3. Anquan Boldin (when healthy, he's gets good yac yards and finds the endzone.
4. Larry Fitzgerald
5. Calvin Johnson
6. Reggie Wayne
7. Steve Smith
8. Wes Welker (would be higher if he could go deep...)
9. Greg Jennings
10. Rody White

These are just off the top of my head... Do you guys think I'm close or what?

I'll bet you on that...T.O. always plays nice the first season with a new team.
