or perhaps the CPL needs a GG subforum?

Surely, but, here's the thing, those people are insane. Clinical.

CPL != FFA. It's nothing to be afraid of. People think they'll be mercilessly hounded for dottalk by the meme-drunk hive mind, but that isn't what happens. Like at all. Ever. I consider myself to be fairly subjective and able to see this whole thing clearly (having been on both sides), and, honestly, the attitude most describe more closely fits a forum like USA Pro. They're infinitely worse and more insidious than CPL has ever been, but because it's 90% dot related, it's all gravy.

If I get recruited into USAPL, should they take all of the GG spam to a subforum so that I can talk about TF2? Kind of ridiculous that people get promoted into CPL, and expect the forum to change for them. I can almost understand them whining about insults...even though honestly, they should grow a pair and realize that it's the fucking internet...but it's ridiculous to get pissed off and want the forum to be solely dotball talk.

i agree that it's a lame solution... frankly, most compromises are to some degree.

to be honest, i continue to be stunned that most of the CPL regulars believe to be abiding by the universal forum rules. to me as an outsider, that's flat-out incorrect.

in other words, i'm not sure it should be incumbent on every internet forum out there to adopt some universal "it's the fucking internet" forum culture. frankly, i'm guessing that bort imagined something a bit different (hence the forum rules already in place).

i think it's clear that the CPL that most of you want is incompatible with those forum rules... so either the CPL is grandfathered a charter exception (a dangerous precedent), or the two populations are segregated. i honestly think the latter is the only permanent solution... so it's up to both parties to find a compromise that's compatible with their political pride.

Nooooo my suggestion was basically what you proposed, except in reverse.

CPL stays, and a new sub-forum is created for people to chat about their dots.

This isn't FFA; people don't flock to CPL just cause they feel like it. The people who post in CPL (for the most part) actually have some form of vested interest in the league. It'd be lame to make CPL an entirely different forum (plus it would attract all kinds of riff-raff, street-rats, aladdin, etc).

[X] Is Riff-Raff
[ ] Actually CPL Related

You're a rare exception. You also go to show that the complaints of "THEY DONT LIKE ANYONE THAT ISN"T THEM AND THERE MEEN" are false. Not only are you an unrelated outsider, but you're a mod (which CPL is notorious for hating) and you've been embraced.

It's about not sucking.

so either you banish one (which is what we've currently got), or you make a forum for each. heck, it doesn't have to be a situation where one is a subforum of the other... make them both co-subforums of an empty league forum or something.
there are ways to accomplish the segregation without it being a political statement.

People aren't goin gto start going to two different forums for the same community. That's retarded.

you honestly think there's one community?

it's one league, obviously... but definitely not one community.

If we could get this quote affixed under the CPL link ASAP, that'd be great.

well, my main proposal was to a segregation... so whichever way works.

i think a GG forum is an excellent compromise, but don't be surprised if the opposition feels the same way you guys do about "their" forum.

It's very much once community.

CPL does abide by the forum rules.

They are somewhat direct, and precise in their personal attacks, which I would say is more lenient, however, most of the other forums are just as bad, but instead of saying "eat a bowl of dicks" they will go on a long 3 paragraph rant, filled with subtle insults.

Porn gets deleted.
Spam gets banned.

Also, AD...send PP an invite? He seems like an outsider, but is pretty intelligent and thinks about it rather than just "BURN THE PLACE!!!".

you may consider them insane, but they have similar views about you guys... so how do we decide who's right?

possession may be nine points of the law, but that doesn't mean that they don't actually have equal say here.

(note that i'm very much playing devil's advocate, since there's no one else to speak for the opposition in this PF.)

CPL skirts forum rules and occasionally breaks them. It doesn't exist outside them, though. And when a rule is straight-up legitiamtely broken and proper modoratorial response is taken, guess what?

no one bitches about it.

It's when someone gets a 5 day ban for teh following post by a bag of wangs who came in only to incite flames and troll people behind the aegis of his ill-gotten powers that shit really hits the fan:

But like I said, it is, and always has been how it is.

People that get promoted up, and demand that the culture, community, and forum change because they don't like it is ridiculous. I don't like how USAPL is...dead and only posts are congratulating each other for their excellent dotball tactics. If I get a player in USAPL, should I start demanding that changes are made?
