Seasons 3-7 though, Lion was just stacked irregardless of the trophies. Lion always had the better "top" while elephant was always the one with "depth."

No actually, if they have 3 gutted teams but the other 13 are extremely close whereas Lion only has 1 gutted team but the difference from top to bottom is huge, then it still works. That's how it was back in Season 7 IMO.

There were also a lot of 1st round upsets back then. Kalahari, one of the best Lion teams ever took quite a few seasons to make it to the finals. The Wasps also took three seasons after an upset round 1 their first season (Undefeated regular season) and then a conference championship loss the next season. However, if the heavy dog of Lion made it to the championship, they usually won. The exceptions were DD since they were a slowbuilt powerhouse, and Nigeria losing even though IMO they really didn't deserve to be in that game. Gold Coast got beat by a superior Wasps team even though Gold Coast thought they were unbeatable. etc etc.

So the skill drop-off between teams is greater in Lion than it is in Elephant, amirite? I know thats how it was in AA#2.

Lion has some very good teams but also have a few cupcakes. Elephant is pretty stacked and there really are no off weeks. Honestly it looks like one of the more balanced conferences I have seen in a while with no CPU, no slow build and even the lower leveled teams are good teams who will be fighting for a playoff spot. I could easily see only 1 or 2 teams in elephant with a losing record.

kellerfag gtfo. Elephant was always the stronger Conference. Our top could compete with your top (hence the splitting of title games), but our 5-12 was pretty much always deeper. It was a struggle to make the playoffs on our side, whereas even Chivas' team could make the playoffs in Lion.

I gotta agree with GMathiasf. Elephant was much deeper, but we still split the titles.

Go back to season 3 too, and I dont think there was any doubt that atleast 5 of the leagues 8 best teams were from lion... and #6 is fairly debatable with ZBSR, though they lost quite a bit of respect with the shit they pulled.

And on that note... anyone miss the drama of season 3? The Heat and Mafia controveries, crazy spider team, Da King, Rubberbandman, damien/aust77... good memories

I hit the Wiki page from time to time just for nostalgia.
