I wouldn't say that it is 'suprising' but what is most notable about this season is an illustration of how borked the promotion system really is. Zeta Conference is easily divided in 3 tiers of teams. There are a few teams at the top that really should be in a league with teams that are a little bit higher in level. At the bottom are a half dozen teams that are CPU, rebuilt or recently re-owned that do nothing but offer the 10 teams a chance to accumulate stupidly meaningless stats. This makes it hard for them to get excited about the season and even more difficult with retaining players because we all know that many GLB agents are impatient in this space.

Three seasons ago both Komodo and PM had just been promoted and finished 7-9 and 6-10 respectively. The majority of the wins came against dud teams or other teams that were also in the just promoted situation also. Last season both teams returned to the playoffs and both offered some surprises. However, both would have a needed a seriously lucky turn of events to push to the Championship. The 3 season cycle now comes full circle.

I'd gladly trade away a season such as this one in the Zeta conference for one where 80% of the games could go either way and truly come down to game planning and strategy. And I mean no disrespect to any of the Zeta teams when I say this. Simple fact is that the teams that have been in AA for 3 or more seasons have had to re-do their personnel to compete with the teams that are now no longer here and many of the games are being decided based on the levels of players rather than on tactics.

So anyhow, that is how I feel about Season 9 so far.

Oh and Gameface ... Skeletor called and he wants his playbook back.



Ok so where does that leave us? We just got promoted and feel we are handling ourselves well. We are not in the class of Komodo or PM or SS. But SS didn't blow us out either. We seriously could contend for 4th this season (which I never thought would happen, so yes that is my suprise). So I am guessing by your post that we would be in that 2nd tier even though we only got promoted to AA this season? Just curious.


That sounds about right, except you are contending for 5th not 4th as you won't beat any of the 4 teams that returned from last season. PMS, Komodo, SS already beat you, and An Album Cover.

I wouldn't say no shot but An Album Cover is a good team.

An Album Cover leads our league in points scored.... can't take them lightly.

An Album Cover is a top quality opponent and in all honesty I am not saying you have no chance, but I would say they are a favorite and if there was wagering on GLB I would put my money on them to win that matchup. Upsets happen all the time and yes I would say it is an upset if you beat them. I am not trying to be disrespectful to your team in any way, I am just trying to look at it realistically.

I will give it to you guys at Coral Bay, you guys gameplan like it's no one's business. I would say that Album Cover should not take them lightly either.

I would have said 7-10 so we are in the same range. Like I said upsets do happen and if they use the right strategy they would have a decent shot at it.

I don't take anything on here personal or disrespectful, basically because your all little dots on my computer . I like having these discussion, kind of interesting to see where peers think you stand.

Hey teams can get promoted in back to back seasons. Our own Sydney Sea Wasps did it last season making it to the Pros. It is just very rare for a promoted team to get promoted back to back.

We did it in Western Europe with the Rome Pride as well. We went from WE A, to WE AAA in consecutive seasons.

Yes but we would have to run the table for that to happen and even I am not that foolish.
