L2Read? That would refer to the part of my statement "Unable to seek medical care". They waited too long to seek a hospital. Plus, their medical facilities are probably not of the highest quality.

Bottom line...this flu has been contracted by .00000001 of the world. This is exactly a fear mongering tactic, and the ignorant people of the world latch right onto it. I was on a plane yesterday, and there were about a dozen people wearing masks. What they didn't realize is that more people have died on plane crashes this year than swine flu. I don't think the mask will help the plane.

I think the masks have more to do with not getting sick than fear of death, otherwise those wearing masks wouldnt even get on a plane...

No arguments about mexican deaths. But not one US death. All have been treated and recovering. So Mexican deaths are more likely a result of horrible drinking water and sanitation conditions as well as access to health facilities. It is pretty well proven that Swine Flu is treatable with standard antibodies. If I remember right I dont think anyone in the world has died outside of mexico as a result of swine flu. Ill look back into that.

I think almost everyone in this thread is missing the whole point of the swine flu "panic" if you want to call it that. It's not like this is the next AIDs or ebola virus. The reason for the "panic" is the POTENTIAL this flu had to POSSIBLY kill healthy individuals. Obviously a week into the swine flu entering the US, it appears this potential has diminished.

But think about the flip side, what if there was absolutely no coverage. The majority of the country would likely get infected because no one has been exposed to this flu, thus no one would have any pre-made antibodies to prevent them from getting sick. Even if the masses got sick, and only 10 healthier people in their 20s, 30s, or 40s in the entire US died, that is still a big deal because those lives could have been saved if people would have been made aware of the situation.

And go one step further, what if 1 of those 10 people was a friend or a loved one of yours. How pissed would you be at the US government...?

The normal flu kills way more people than swine flue does. It's funny how these retards walk around with masks on thinking that will prevent them from getting sick. Masks are used to keep the person wearing them from spreading germs. Not the other way around. Jackasses
