There is no defense against it right now. People say that there is but if teams are evenly matched (or close) it is virtually unstoppable because you run it 4 downs and as long as you average 2.5 ypc you get first downs, etc.
What people need to complain about is not powerbacks. The problem is also not the play itself. It is more with the blocking and the extra half to full one yard extra you gain after being tackled. Also people need to realize you need a stronger LDE to help with this play and if your LDE is fast and agile and going for pass rush you will not be in position to help and so there you go by the time the LB and SS get involved it is too late.
So it is a combination of the way LDEs are being built, the sim issues, the fact the FB blocking works on this play as intended but not on many others, etc. A true powerback was not used on this and it still worked. That is where this is a learning experience.
EDIT: When I say blocking I mean there is no counter for a defense to set up right now and the strength boost to push back the defensive line gives a yard cushion even if same strength bonus on both sides and this one yard the one yard from after the tackle means you only have to gain a half yard and as I said you basically will in 4 downs get 10 yards. You may lose 1 gain 5, gain 3 gain 3 and then first down again. That is the issue.
Actually, there IS a way to stop it... a GM on Rome Pride in AAA#1 has done it on another team he is on, through testing in friendly scrimmages. Besides using the proper defensive set up, you need good players and proper player tactics set. Without the combination of those 3 things, you won't stop it.
The other thing that is broke is coverage on blitzes, which kills my defense as we have been a blitzing defense since the beginning, and now we can't blitz like we are used to because the HB passes will kill us.
Good to know but many are claiming differently. However, I have no reason to doubt you.
