Hey no hard feeling here. Nothing wrong with stirring up the forums a little bit. Creates more activity.

You been around long enough, Ramman. This is what I do come playoff time. Sorry it had to be you in this circumstance. Like you said though, creates more activity.

By the way, anybody seen the Samoa Titans around this season? Could of sworn they moved up with us and the Cubs from A#5....

I think they're homesick for A #5.

Couldn't recruit our positions of need to stay competitive unfortunately... lost some players that I wasn't expecting to and honestly some of our builds aren't all that good.

It happens. *shrugs*

Unfortunately for them, they won't be going back any time soon by the looks of things, and Zeta will be just as tough next season, if not tougher. At most 3 teams will move up (right now, looks more like 2), which means at least half the upper tier will stay here, while quite possibly 4 teams move down, making room for more teams around the same talent level as the Titans/Kai/Tide/etc.

I know what you mean, Haze... if we didn't get hand-me-downs from higher level teams run by a few of our agents, we wouldn't even be competetive. I've done massive recruiting attempts a few times before, and the amount of time you have to spend, and sheer number of PM's & offers you have to write is just not worth it when you're competing with thousands of other teams for the same guys, pretty much. Get one response for every 15 or 20 guys you try to talk to, and most of those are just them saying you're in the top 5 teams they're considering... and this is if your team has done great consistantly.

Yeah, we've picked up a few of our best players/agents through that type of recruiting, but having connections in high places, or running a team with rich, trustworthy friends from the start seem to be the only way teams can consistantly stay competetive. We were fortunate to pick up a some of the pieces of a disbanded team following our first season, and those agents have contributed greatly to keeping our team competetive every season since.

I'm running through the same thing right now. We had a solid 2-deep for a couple of seasons, but over time guys started bowing out. Finding quality FAs that want to sign with you is a pain.

The vast majority of my team is made up of a few guys that I happen to know which worked out well last season in A because honestly the guys we had were dominant in some key positions.

A few of us spent a lot of time trying to recruit and fill holes.. our WRs are just too low level and thanks to a few things happening we ended up lacking Depth at in general on Defense.

I had one guy that had resigned with me ask for his release 2 days before the start of the regular season so he could go play for his brother's team... never managed to replace him.

Another guy was signed part of the way through this season due to a contract restructure.. never accepted my offer... never contacted me and as soon as the contract was up retired his player.

A couple of my guys don't boost and that kinda sets them back, but I couldn't manage to replace them for sure which is a problem too.

I still have a lot of active guys on my team, but the problem is that we're lacking in some positions. I let my own personal LB go to another team because I knew we needed to upgrade the position to be competitive this season, but could never get anyone to actually commit to the team. I found myself often losing players to A powerhouses that were going to have cakewalks even though the players were WAY above the level requirements for the league. It was all in all a pretty frustrating experience... honestly I don't think there is enough of a penalty for players playing down levels which would alleviate a lot of the trouble.

Sorry for going into like rant mode... but I'm kinda bothered by the fact I couldn't build a competitive team this season. Honestly it's entirely possible that my team gets wiped for next season and my friends and I start a slow build team. Which means back down to A, but eventually we'll be able to compete at the higher levels.

I actually feel bad for the few guys that did commit to my team because a lot of the activity on my team has died severely due to our being non-competitive... but it is what it is.

That's been the thing for us. I built my team from guys who all competed against each other way back in seasons 3/4/5. Added a few players who were new to the game, like Bug, and joalla.

I refuse to try and mass recruit, hence we have our good seasons and our mediocre ones. I just won't replace anyone on my team with higher level players. Everyone has stuck with me since day 1 of the team, so can't do that to them.

I've done that as much as I can...

Unfortunately I've had some people up and leave... and some guys that don't boost are just too low to compete at this level now.

It wasn't really even mass recruiting... just kinda some spots I needed to fill that I couldn't.

I hear you. Our forum hasn't been nearly as active since Satch departed; he was the instigator of the discussions for the most part. We still have a core group of guys that boost & train their players and I'm going to be signing several players in the off-season to boost our roster depth, but I wonder how long these guys will remain interested.

Let me know if you do start a slow-build team, I might be interested in putting a player into the team.

The real world economy affected some of my agents last season - so it forced me to do some massive recruiting to replace those being "retired".

Kinda sucked because our team chemistry took a massive hit and we're just now getting it into the 90's.

I'm glad to have a lot of good agents...I'll go as far as to say I'm lucky.
