They were in the league last season. It goes off of whoever was in the league last season.

Quite frankly, it's pretty dumb. I wouldn't mind if the top 3, 5, or 10 receivers were thrown in a hat and one name got pulled out for an endorsement, but backup FS? The total randomness associated with these awards is about as far from realism as you can get. No offense to the Bar Stars player, but a backup FS may get a local endorsement from a small business if he's a crowd favorite special teamer. Nationally, he's not going to get a thing and yet here we are adding this kind of thing to the game while there are so many other things Bort's time would be better spent on.

edit, the WR was an example, I meant you could do that for every stat leader, sacks, rushing, receiving, pass yards, etc. Then maybe award those players lottery tickets based on 'fame' if you want to make it count for something.

To counter that point, here is what I would say.

Teams would just try to run or throw to a certain player to get them the high stats to get the Endorsements. Also, with rampant guttings and slowbuild team, Whoever plays the more bad teams, would get the better stats and endorsements.

I agree 100%, but that's why I would still have a lottery but with only the top 10 leaders of each category or something. If a team rushes 100% of the time, they may lead the league, but they're going to be terribly easy to gameplan against and they'll still only have a 1:10 chance (roughly) to win the award. Personally, if a team is willing to sell their record for a chance to win the endorsement, I'd let them have it, winning is more important to me. As far as guttings/slow builds go, two points. It's not as rampant in higher leagues, there's only one cpu and no low level slow build teams in A7 I believe, second point is that you could base it on conference only stats if you wanted, then everyone plays the same competition.

I'll admit there is no perfect solution, but there are better solutions than what we have now which is a few people getting awards for no apparent reason.

Agreed. In BBB#13 the ones that played the bad teams got most of the endorsements. While it is a lottery, it appears those who have high fame do get a better shot at winning.

It appears as if the backup FS, or backup QB winning an endorsement is an exception to the rule.

I don't know, to me it looks like the Punks got most of the awards, 8 out of 16 if I counted right. Hard to really interpret much from that other than the system is borked.

If an owner or GM is willing to sacrifice his gameplanning for the sole reason of getting his RB an award, then by all means, take it. How much better is the team off when they've ditched the gameplan for the sake of 1 piece of equipment. I try to never give Bort a hard time, but I think this "lottery" thing was a cop-out to keep people from arguing about who is better than who.

Yes, the punks got most of the awards as they were in the east playing a bunch of cupcake teams. Their fame was probably high because of all the easy stats giving them more chances to win the lottery.

From what I've heard, the majority of the players that got endorsements were on teams that won championships.

IMO, Bort released the Endorsements too early and it's kind of ridiculous.

1.) Almost no one who deserved them got them.
2.) They went to guys in the wrong leagues.
3.) Lottery system is flawed. You don't see Joey Harrington in too many commercials. Sure the money should be spread around, but not to back up players who don't have a huge impact.

Maybe they left the league, but shouldn't that nullify their chances to win an "A7" award.

ok so a few went to guys whose contracts expired and found new teams. Does that negate what they did the previous season?

1) Some deserved them and some didn't
2) They were in the league last season were they made their fame
3) True, no Joey Harrington but I have seen plenty of Rex Grossman commercials.

A LB on Atlanta won an endorsement but we did not win a title. I agree he should have he was pretty much the MVP of the team. But I agree I would never sacrifice game planning to get one player an award.
