I'll give you a hint. It's either a player reference or a Michael J Fox reference.

Kinda an odd playoff over all in that not a single upset happened.

Eastern Conference Championship
#1 Eleven Wise Monkeys vs. #2 Louisville Nighthawks

The Monkeys were already celebrating before the Demons got on the board as they closed out the half 33-0. San Francisco's unimpressive -16 yards rushing and paltry 168 yards passing is nothing to write home about. In an extremely tough conference, the Monkeys flung poo all over the stadium instead of throwing confetti.

The Nighthawks on the other hand, controlled the game with Freedom, but couldn't shut the door until late in the game with 2:30 on the clock and had to survive a second half rally from the Freedom. Although Freedom's ground game vanished they kept toe to toe with Louisville and Freedom giving up 4 sacks was off-set by them getting two INTs of the Hawks. Despite Freedom's WR Nipsy Nolan's stellar performance, Freedom kept misfiring on open receivers all game long and the Nighthawks just kept their cool and played calm. The games between these two teams goes back to season 4, when the Freedom was just a bun in the oven and the Hawks were an established team, so their rivalry went to another level this season with Freedom hot on Hawks' trail.

How do the two stack up?

We know that the Humpers are going to run it and run it a lot, that won't change since it's their strength and you really don't want to change dancing partners when you get to the dance. Louisville has a more balanced attack and can strike at you with either, but do tend to lean with the passing game a bit more. This game is really going to boil down to Louisville's ability to contain the Monkeys' running game and it's as simple as that. If they can, game over. In the last meeting of the two, Louisville struggled mightily with it and gave up nearly 400 yards and 6 rushing TDs while the Nighthawks opted to air it out and survived 15 hurries and 3 sacks to put up nearly 550 yards in the air with 5 TDs (but a pick cost them dearly). This game is the conference game to watch since it should have plenty of scoring once again.

Moderator Prediction: Nighthawks, Freedom has to root for the team that knocked them out of the playoffs.
Assistant Moderator Predictions (my two Maine Coons): Neither animal scares them, but birds do come out of nowhere sometimes, so... they've meow'd to me that they want the Monkeys.

< shrug >

I need to have a little chit chat with my assistants since they really shouldn't be in disagreement with their papa.

Damn assistant mods. But, this game did go how I predicted, pure running vs pure passing, and running won the day.

Western Conference Championship
#1 North By Gawd Texas Tornado Humpers vs. #2 Pontiac War Kittens

Well, well, well. If it's not #1 vs #2. The Humpers laid a beat down on Jacktown that got ugly in a hurry and ended ugly too. Jacktown put up a minimal effort to run the ball, but were forced to air it out to try and keep pace with the Humpers who just ground ground out the clock running on the ground. Although Jacktown only coughed up the ball once, that wasn't the deciding factor, Tornado's HB Tote DaRock was gaining 213.5 yards on 36 attempts for a respectful 5.6 avg with 3 TDs and 12 broken tackles. Two WRs for the Humpers came up big as well, Kyle Hoffman and Shayden Skidmore, each with 6 receptions and a TD. They came to the championship undefeated and the obviously plan on staying that way. Best to you next season Jacktown in whichever league you end up in.

The War Kittens' story is bit different though as they exchanged scores in the first half to leave it tied up and then gave up and early TD in the 3rd to fall behind by 7. Not wanting to sit in their own litter box with the smell of defeat all off-season, the War Kittens decided that were done playing with the Mavericks and closed out the rest of the game with a 24-7 scoring finish and tacked on the winning 10 points as the last 10 points scored. Pontiac had the edge rushing and the passing game was even, including their exchange of INTs. Pontiac's FB Dahk Hollywood was the most impressive runner with 86.5 yards on 13 carries for a 6.7 yard avg with 2 TDs and 21 broken tackles. Ironic that HB Rueben Mayes was Pontiac's best receiver on the day, so he took Pontiac's game day honors.

How do the two stack up?

In their previous match up, the Humpers won 55-23 in a sleeper as the Humpers dominated the ground game and that my friends, is the key again. We all know that the Humpers are going to run it down Pontiac's throats, so they don't need to worry about stopping it, just containing it and not letting it get out of hand since the the passing attack isn't something to be feared to any great measure. Pontiac continued to run the ball in the last meeting, despite losing so badly and there's no way to tell if that was intentional or accidental, but either way, they can afford the same game plan this time.

Moderator Prediction: Humpers over the Kittens in a mildly interesting match.
Assistant Moderator Predictions (my two Maine Coons): Kittens lay beat down never seen before.

Eeew, somebody cleaned the litter box and left a mess. Sorry Pontiac.

Game was weird. I don't think I've ever seen a yards/pass that low. Completion % wasn't bad, yards/rush wasn't bad, but every pass was for 2 yards. Odd.

Great job keeping everything underneath, I guess, by TX.

Nothing like our first matchup. You have a great team. Our D really came up huge, especially containg your outstanding HB Mayes.

Good game Pontiac!
