As a completely unbiased observer as I didn't care who won at all, the officiating was horrible, on both sides, but the Steelers got way more bad calls in their favor and bigger calls. No doubt about it.

Over here on the BBC we had Rod Woodson doing analysis during what would be advertisements in the states (no adverts on state funded BBC). He brought up the drive where Shittsburgh got the roughing the kicker penalty in their favour when it was the holder that got hit. On that drive there were three big penalties which Woodson basically thought were laughable:

1) Incidental facemask - facemask penalties now have to be non-incidental.

2) Roughing the passer - with the way Ben had been playing there was no way that should have been a roughing call.

3) Roughing the holder - the guy was stumbling and theres no way that play should ever be called.

Sure it ended up as a FG and not a TD but that drive had some really terrible officiating. When you consider last seasons SB and the relative awesomeness of the officiating there (and Im a Pats fan) you have to wonder what the fuck they were doing.

That was indeed, a horseshit call.

And the sad part is Ed Hochuli didn't even ref this game...

You knew the Cardinals were screwed when Whisenhut had more yards passing the red flags than Warner had yards passing the football. Nice how the officials blew obvious calls and then forced the Cardinals to challege the play. Had the Cardinals has an unlimited amount of red flags they would have won.

The real reason the Steelers won is because the referees had no desire to take an eight year vacation to Guantanamo:

And Comcast predicted that someone would get fucked in the Super Bowl 3 minutes before the end of the game:

Ok... They reviewed the call up in the booth, but they make a split (5-10 second) decision whether the REAL ref should review it.

That was the wrong decision by far imo.

They should've let the refs on the field decide the FINAL play of a very close Super Bowl.
Not some assholes upstairs who are pissed at the world b/c they're not on the field.

Or maybe the replay officials were getting their game feed from Comcast and couldn't review the play.

I agree man, I watched the game again, and it was close. It sucks that the fans feel cheated out of what could have been one more very exciting play.

Agree on that one. His hand was on his facemask but he didn't use it to bring him down or anything like that. Thought the whole point of changing the rule was so that this was a non-call. The guy didn't even get tackled.

But that one wasn't as big a deal. It wasn't a drive changer since holmes got the first down anyway.

Here's a conspiracy theory for ya'lls: The Rooney family was a heavy financial contributor to the Obama campaign. Obama starts coming out with this "I'm a Steelers fan" stuff and claims to be a Bears fan 1st, then a Steelers fan (lame, imo). Then the Steelers get a number of calls their way (AFC Championship game as well as Superbowl). They win and subsequently Dan Rooney thanks Obama while accepting the trophy. Hmmm. Makes ya think.

That just makes me think the Rooney's are liberal fags...

The problem with conspiracy theories is the more complicated they are the harder it would be to keep covered up. People LOVE to talk and tell their story... When my unit was tapped to deploy to Iraq in '03 it was supposed to be a big secret. At every briefing they'd tell us... "don't even tell your wife." What's the first thing everyone does when they get home? That's right, tell their wives and then the fucking sewing circle gets to gabbing and the next thing you know it's on the local news.

And we're supposed to be a high speed, low density asset. Bottom line, people can't keep their fucking mouths shut. Oswald was the only shooter, we actually did walk on the moon, The WTC was brought down by 737's and middle eastern pilots, and Obama... as much as I think he's a socialist piece of shit... had nothing to do with the sorry ass officiating during the Super Bowl.

Ok, now I'll go back to posting "Good Game Threads."

Cheers,
~Turk

Come on man! I was just kidding.......mostly. While I highly doubt the NFL is in any way ACTUALLY fixed, every meaningful game gets me thinking anymore. My honest theory is that I'M jinxed. Nothing I root for in this world wins, NOTHING.

49ers - suck
Padres - joke
Not Obama - lol
America - slipping
Tony - sad
