I know how it is on the Pirates. First few seasons, we held losing records, but as our levels grew and we got the AI down - we started doing much better. Unfortunately, we never did cash in on a good many trades like Chuck and Manlets have. So our ability to compete against such teams is strained until next season. There's no denying it.
LOL, I knew you were not blaming me personally - our team is still totally homegrown (well, we acquired an ace kicker, but we kept having inactives, so you'll have this). We lose, therefore we are.
I just see no reason for people to apologize for wanting to win really badly. Sure, there are ways to go about it that seem more borderline than others, but the same rules that apply to them apply to us all. Having certain principles should be its own reward without need to blame those who have different ones. I personally hate real bragging whether done by teams that "earned it" or not, but I feel I can tell banter and half-serious smack talk from real hubris. I actually like the former, it is part of a competitive environment. I have not seen all that much of the latter in GLB, and I pretty much ignore the people who actually do it.

That's the thing though. Neither Chuck, nor the Manlets have really been "failing" teams. My guys have made the playoffs every season since inception so far, and Chuck made most of them from what I remember. As for relying on powerhouses, we've had some pretty shitty and patch-work teams over the years and have still done fine, so make of it what you will.
As for people in "brag" mode, it was the Pirates guys in the other thread who were talking about having a shot at #2 and Chuck and the Manlets not being that great. Most of my guys and Chuck have been pretty quiet all season long.

The only reason I have chimmed in at all was the board was dead and there was nothing to read. I am not the type to brag and usually don't because most times it comes back to bite you in the ass.

To be clear, I have not seen any real bragging here in WEA#5. I mean sure, somebody throws out a thread begging for wagonloads of smack-talk, and some arrives. But that is not really what I meant. I mean those guys who get on there and read you their resume, talk about their greatness, etc. It is that crap I could do without. Eventually, you get to say it on the field anyway.
But just so you know, I have guided teams to mediocrity a lot more times than any of you pretenders have!
