I was wondering why Windsor was number 1. Then I saw which team you were affiliated with. Figures you would put your team in the top spot even though the actual game doesn't see it that way.

7-0
Stingiest defense in the game
4/7 shutouts

Who is better right now?

I would go with Golden State...

2.1 pts per game
4/7 shutouts

If that isn't damning praise I don't know what is....LOL

And just to defend/explain my use of SoS a bit...

I think SoS is completely justifiable precisely because we haven't played everyone yet. Some teams "get lucky" and play weaker teams early on in the season, and therefore put up better stats for those games. Other teams, play tougher teams early on, and their stats maybe aren't as impressive. This is an attempt to account for that. As the season progresses and more people play more of the other teams, the SoS component will be devalued, so that it is not as much of a factor, since the games will balance themselves out for the most part.

I am open to suggestions for how to improve this however, so if you have something you think is better, please let me know.

Thanks,
StickMan

I like how we beat MN, and are still ranked below them. Also, we have 3 shutouts (almost four save one TD at the end of a game) and we're as low as 7th Defensively?

And thanks to everyone who has mentioned how they appreciate the rankings. It's nice to hear that people enjoy these, since I've put quite a bit of time into this.

Also, thanks to everyone who asks questions about how I've done this. Hopefully my explanations aren't coming off sounding too defensive. I do appreciate the questioning though, because it helps me see things that I may not have otherwise seen, or let's me know what other factors people consider important.

Thanks guys,

Not sure if that was a sarcastic remark or not. If it was, maybe you didn't understand what he was explaining.

Strength of Schedule is in there to balance out the scheduling differences at the beginning of the season. As the season progresses, the system will automatically balance out because of the way GLB generates schedules. Everybody plays the same schedule, just in a different order. Therefore, SoS makes a difference at the beginning, but by the end of the season everybody should be getting/losing almost the exact same amount of points in this category - which will make it almost completely undecisive in the rankings.

Yeah, just like I mentioned in the first post today, with the rankings....
So that's already been noted. And your D did move up a spot from 8th last week.

I think the LMAO was directed at my damning praise comment.

If you ass clowns from Oklahoma don't like the rankings then do it your damn self. The game only dictates position and tie breakers based on total points scored. If you have that much of an issue with it we'll just stop posting it.

As for Golden State being a better D. I will agree with that, they are kicking a lot of ass. We'll have to step it up some.

I can't wait until May 17th when we finally get to shut up OKC.

It's not a perfect system yet please be patient. You can check out his math formulas if you have the time. I'm not happy about our D being #3 by any means. He'll tweak it more as the season goes.

Its not a perfect system ... but ... every team is being ranked by the EXACT same formula ! Hows them apples ?
