I respect everyone's opinions and votes here but I felt like I wanted to clarify something about the voting for the DT's. As someone who's tried to specialize in building D-Linemen, usually the DT's with the best stats are going to be the ones playing the DT position instead of those playing NT and it shows in the voting. So far, the players at the NT/DT positions who have received votes are 7 DT's and 2 NT's. Currently, Henry La Serre & Spank Wire are the only 2 NT's that have received votes. One vote has also been cast for a LDE (Bruuuu uuuuce). It's just my own opinion, but in the future I feel the DT positions should be broken down into NT and DT. That way both positions would get equal voting. It's kind of like having the LB positions separated instead of just having LB listed. The same could also be done with other linemen, both on Offense & Defense such as LOT, LG, RG, ROT, LDE & RDE. There's actually a difference in these player's responsibilities and also in their builds. Some O-Linemen are built for pass blocking and others built for run blocking. For DE's, usually your RDE is your pass rushing DE while your LDE is your containment DE.

There just isn't a good way to do it in GLB. It is almost all stat driven. There ae some olinemen who are outstanding but don't have the pancakes so no one notices them. I have a CB who hardly gives up any yardage but I didn't even vote for him because I knew no one would notice him. That is probably true for a gap filling, space eating NT's, great blocking FBs and on and on. If it were a real team these guys would get noticed.

I have no problem with your suggestion other than it already takes quite a bit of work to figure these out and since GLB doesn't differentiate DT/NT it would take a lot more work than a lot of people would put into it.. I'm just saying there is no way we can get even close to an accurate system. This is just a fun exercise that helps keep things interesting.

Stonehenge, I agree with you that there would be more work involved in doing what I suggested, but I just felt it was a way to hopefully get players noticed who otherwise wouldn't be, just like you mentioned. I was also trying to go along with one of the rules for this that states, "Use stats in your voting sure, but dont base everything completely off this. Look for hugely inflated stats in games, etc. and use things such as: team success, valuability to team. (Example- with LOT's especially, how many sacks did they allow? For all OL look at how many sacks and how many rushing yards the team had not necessarily only pancakes). In essence, vote fairly and put time into it, dont vote blindly otherwise it loses its purpose."

It's just my opinion, but it shouldn't just be based entirely on stats. Most of all though and you are so right when you said that this is just a game and everyone should have fun with it.

Terry Frisk has played about 50/50 LDE and RDE, and put up the same numbers at each position. how would you classify that? and how could you tell if a player has moved around unless you watched every game. and what about the players who say start at LDE and backup at RDE? it just gets too messy

I see where you're coming from on this and it would make it messy trying to break everything down, especially for those who don't have the time needed to do it. I guess since it sounds like that's the concensus of most everyone, we should also start having only 3 LB spots on the All Pro Team and not break that down as far as OLB & MLB since so many play more than just one of these positions.

At any rate, all players who are voted for should be commended and I congratulate all of them for the excellent jobs they do.

It might be to late now. But what if we had the coaches nominate their own players who they have watched this whole season to be in the probowl. Then we vote off of those. Like I have a very good CB who doesn't have very many tackles or any INT but has shut down a ton of WR or a OT who has been solid all season but just a dozen pancakes or so. It would take more time but it might be more accurate on who are the best players.

That might work but only as a supplement. It seems there are too many positions to have it work out all on it's own. I also won't put any more work into it. I looked at stats, situations (like what kind of oline did a RB have), the greasemonkey pro bowl score script, and my own experience from games this year. And I even think that was too much work.

I know what you mean man. Hell, Disco's rocking it on both sides of the ball. It's cool though. This is just a fun little recognition of the top performers (statistically). There are so many factors that you can't really narrow it down to true Pro Bowl status. Hell, even the Pro Bowl is a popularity contest... so who really cares. It's all for fun.

I didn't choose a FB, TE, P, or KR's. There wasn't a quick way to look at a few of them, so I decided it would be fairer just not to vote for those.
