Its just hard to tell how good a CB is from most stats. Based on the stats do you think this guy is a good CB or not:

Basing it on stats, no. Basing on your bars at that level i would be a bit cautious as well. I am guessing hes around 80 - 90 speed 60 ish agi and 50ish vision. 30+ str and tackling as well as high stamina. Just a guess though.

Honestly looking at the Lion CBs they all have a lot of tackles, either the QBs and WRs are very good or there are not very many lock down builds.

Mike Curveage may have the best looking stats but 4 of his ints that went for 6 are against pretty bad teams.

Its really hard to tell who has the best stats. PDs are a good stat to look at sort of, but they can also mean you are not locking the WR down and still getting thrown at. I would say a high number of PDs and Ints over low tackles is the best gauge.

And you can really only judge players who are starters.

Yeah that's about right except with mid 50 vision and stamina isn't that high. I started keeping track of some stuff after the first couple of games when he just shut everyone down. He only had 13 catches and 1 TD against him all season and 3 of the catches he deflected and 3 more were less than 5 yards.

best way to judge a CB is high PD, low tackles for a #1 CB

#2 CB not so much, as most runs go to the right, and he could have higher tackles on runs

Ints and TDs are a bonus, ie a league leader in Ints can be afforded leeway if he has a couple TDs, if his PD are a little lower than some of the guys with 1-2 Ints on a season

But all this is moot, because really good shutdown corners never get thrown at for any of the above stats

They will get thrown at sometimes. shitty QBs will throw at WRs that are covered. The best CBs shut down their WRs, but can still make a play when thrown at.

Hey that sounds like Mattimus! Only 1 of my ints(and it wasnt returned for a TD) came from a cupcake team and only 7 PDs.
Infact, they were usually against pretty damn good teams.

Oh and he starts.

Your CB is close, but I think there are better out there in the conference.....just my opinion.

Unless the tackles are made on someone elses guy. I have a CB who mostly tackles other guys, not the guy he is covering.

Well that doesnt necessarily mean your better. Starters play better WRs. And of course, less PDs might equal better coverage.

My CB has never lead his team in PDs...yet he is always 1st or 2nd CB.

He will be considered by me...but its a tough call because so many of his stats came against shit teams. Id have to look over some game tape of you playing good teams and see how effective you are at actually covering and not just getting picks against garbage teams, which you are ridiculously good at!

looked over 2 games. Freetown and Sierra. You did really good against freetown and decent against Sierra. Does he play special teams too???

I dont think he plays special teams, if he does it probably is also to help return kicks and punts.
