What makes me sick is my Dad had a ton of cards from the 50s. He'd go down to the store and buy stacks of them the size of his fist for 5 cents, or packs of cards for next to nothing. Needless to say, he didn't think saving his 2000+ cards was worth it, but he vaguely remembers and whispers to me a few of the more famous players' names that were on the cards from time to time, just to tease me.
I have a bunch of baseball cards starting around 1985 to 1993 or so. I stopped collecting at that point and boxed them all up. I have a few decent cards, but not too many (though I do have a few complete sets in Fleer Ultra). I figure one day I'll have my parents ship them down here and will give them to my boys when they are old enough to appreciate them. Unlike my Dad's collection, mine will probably be worth less than what I paid for it. Ah well.
