I'd say you were. You look at both of those losses, and both of them were just due to your own mistakes during the sim. Obviously they happened and you have to take that into account, but it's not like it's something that will happen all the time or something that can't be fixed.

I can't will my NT, FB, or backups to suddenly gain 10 levels to be on par with the elite teams, but I can change an AI tactic that says "kick a fg here" or "don't throw there" etc.
