THEY FINALLY GIVE YOU THE BALL. Awesome!

way too early to tell.

My back JR is league leader in rushing yards, but has had a lot more carries than others. Awooga has scored 11 of his 21 touchdowns against Tallahassee and about a third of his total yards. We'll see at the end of the ride who's worthy of being called best in the league. Maroney is looking impressive as well btw.

ha. eat it.

Awooga has been among the top backs in the league from day one. but until we were able to build the rest of the offense, whether he got 10 carries or 25 carries didn't matter one iota.

Awooga, Quickens and Maroney are the top 3 imo.

Awooga - 105 rushes for 996.5 yards, 9.5 avg, 21 TDs, 1 Fum/1 FumL, 6 rec for 118 yards, 19.7 avg 2 TDs
Maroney - 140 rushes for 1088.5 yards, 7.9 avg, 16 TDs, 1 Fum/1 FumL, 6 rec for 61.5 yards, 10.3 avg 1 TD
Quickens - 108 rushes for 903.5 yards, 8.4 avg, 13 TDs 0 Fum, 8 catches for 84.5, 10.6 avg

The difference? Maroney has 1 level 40+ OLineman clearing the way. Awooga has 4 and Quickens has 5. It could be argued that Maroney does more with less.

It could be.

Having schemed against Maroney, I'd agree that he's the best back we've faced in the league.

I don't argue that a solid front line helps a lot. However, Maroney also has approximately a third more rushes per game than either Quickens or Awooga. If that is taken into consideration then Awooga would be looking at an extra 7 TD's, or additonal TD per game. All 3 are pretty damn solid though, just trying to sell my man a little more.

Hate to tell you I resigned him through next season, fnord is a good guy and happy to see his power back finally working

If you look at last season, JR beat all those running backs on yards per carry, on a team that did not make the play-offs.

If you look at last season Bill Chimney was right by JR in ypc, along with having similar TD numbers, way more receiving yards, and considerably less fumbles than JR all on a team that knocked you out of the playoffs. One could argue Chimney is the better offensive threat.

This was in a 2 back system as well.

Meh!, all up in the air until it's over.

And hate, we've always used a two back system when we've had the players, last season was no different.

But you didn't use a two back system last season. You had your fullback get at most 7 carries a game. That doesn't constitute a two back system. Teabaggers had The Hooded Claw as well as Chimney running the ball. So I guess we could just add another 28 TDs and 1600 yards onto Chimney's numbers and oh look.....he had a better season! lol

Er...he had a 10+ carry average clause in his contract, and I met that, so hardly 7 carries a game. I agree JR gets the majority of carries, but that was down to stamina, we were using a 95-100 change out on energy for half of last season at HB, JR just got tired slower. I agree Chimney did better per carry btw, but then he was used differently.

I'll give you that. They are both very good backs with two very different styles of play. When determining which hb is best it's very difficult b/c of all the outside factors that occur. (O-Line, number of carries, strength of schedule, and random bort nerf's)

the total yards per carry is also pretty difficult to interpret btw.

Look at this season, because there was no back-up and because of our heavy run game, JR ran incredibly often in difficult games, where a ypc between 4 and 5 is to be expected. Because of the big amount of carries against those teams, it is harder to get the ypc over a whole season very high because those games against bad/gutted teams will weigh down a lot less on the total over the season.
