WEAA2 has always been competitive...of course a big portion of the teams in Zeta that keep winning the titles has moved up, so this could finally be alphas season

I feel really sorry for those who got stuck coming to play in a competitive league and didn't get to stay behind and feast on much weaker opposition.

Turned out not to be true. Your team deserved more credit than you thought. Congrats on a solid season/playoff run and good luck in S8.

Damn...getting into the playoffs in a season you thought was a throwaway. Not bad for a "doormat"

We had one upset of a team rated higher than us, and weren't remotely competitive against most of the others. Our losses to Marcy, Longhorn, Lewisburg, Hungary, Manchester, and Wichita were by a combined score of 311 to 86. We made the playoffs because there are several rebuilding teams in Zeta, we played a weak opponent from Alpha, and two other Zeta teams gave up. We went through seasons of beatings waiting for our one chance of being legitimately competitive and Bort screwed us over. If you want to credit us for not giving up like some other teams, fine, but it doesn't make me feel any better. I applaud our guys for not throwing in the towel, but our "reward' was to get destroyed by Marcy instead of competing with Leavenworth and Bayou to be the top team in WEA3.

We invested four seasons worth of flex points and effort trying to compete, yet never finished higher than fifth in our conference. When you've gone through that and you're not upset about being promoted before the season when all that effort is finally going to pay off, then you can comment about my frustration. Until then you and ultrajer can both keep your mouths shut.

I can see where your coming from. You got screwed out of your turn in A Working all season to be first round gimme for Marcy is little consolation. But look at it this way You took the best they had square on the chin and did better than most. If a team or two gets screwed out of their chance in AA this year youll be sitting in the catbrid seat next season.

All these guys are doing is congradulating you on a good season, period. They, in no way, are questioning your frustration. If you think they're misspoken with their sportman-like comments then it's you who is speaking out of turn (especially with garbage rebuttals like "keep your mouths shut"). Commrodary and sportsmanship is a big part of what this league is all about, try whining to GLB support about your promotion... There's nothing we can do about that.

Your other (and more probable) option is to keep fielding your best 22 and hope for the best. Empathy doesn't warrant snide remarks or "STFUs," those aren't welcome here.

It was nice to upset Permian and there is a little pride to be had in not giving up on a season, but the reality is that we'll never catch up with Marcy, Longhorn, Hungary, Manchester, or Wichita. We're just not in that league, and therefore we'll be waiting for "our chance" until all those teams are gone, which I doubt will be Season 8. We always give it our best shot against those guys, but five seasons have taught us our limitations. Our owner is a lot more positive and gracious about this than I've been, but for me, I wanted one season with a real shot at a championship to justify all the other seasons where we got our brains beat in. Instead Bort pulled a Lucy (from Charlie Brown) and yanked the ball away at the last second.

I understand why you're defending a teammate, but this is a case where you clearly don't see the whole picture. Allstar, weathers, and most of the other guys who were in WEA3 Zeta with us last season supported our promotion complaint all along, and when they congratulated us for our effort, I genuinely appreciated it. Those guys represent what we'd like to one day become. SAGA45 and ultrajer, on the other hand, were two people who had made it clear that they did not agree with our complaint about being promoted too soon. Ultrajer had voiced his disagreement in this thread, and SAGA had done so in the suggestions thread were I complained about our situation and proposed changes to the promotion system (the main idea was that no team out of the top 4 should ever advance unless they win their conference, and preferably only the top 3 from each conference should move on in any one season to prevent leagues from getting radically changed every season).

Out of context, SAGA's comment looks completely innocent. If SAGA had just said "Congrats on a solid season/playoff run and good luck in S8," then I would have thanked him for the sentiment. But given his background on the subject, and opening with "Turned out not to be true. Your team deserved more credit than you thought," he's clearly bringing back up that argument and insinuating that we were wrong to have complained in the first place. I took offense to that because us finishing 8th in a league with 3 CPU teams, one gutted team, two rebuilding teams, and two teams who quit during the season isn't really relevant to whether or not we should be in AA as opposed to A. I don't want our record to be used as an excuse to dismiss our complaint about being promoted too soon.

Saga being my teammate is not relative to my post, your comment of "keep your mouth shut" is what promted it to be exact. I do understand where you're coming from because you had better believe that I want that trophy on my home page for AA. I want to beat Marcy and anyone in our way and would be dissatisfied with being regulated to AAA. However, I also realize that there would little to nothing I could do about it if it happens.

Saga couldve also been referring to the thread in general, not necessarily your suggestion. Obviously arguing this is a moot point as we'll just disagree on the matter, I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt... Regardless his statement still sems harmless to me given the case you've provided. Malice rarely tends to rear its head in this forum so why must you assume that he isn't just basing his statement off of the original thread?

Also, Lewisburg and Chester's rebuilding has to be taken with a grain of salt given the fact that this course of action was taken midway through the season.

What he meant was made clear from his opening statement. It wasn't out of line or insulting by any means, but it did push on what he knew to be a very raw nerve. I'm still upset about the situation, and while my response was perhaps unnecessarily acerbic, it's obviously a subject I'm still very sensitive about. The reason we're done in Season 7 while Leavenworth and Bayou are vying for the top spot in WEA3 is that Bort stupidly decided that it was more important to address gutted teams causing unrealistic stats than to actually protect the teams who are trying to win and spending money on the game. Ironically his policy of over-promotion has only succeeded in causing even more gutting, but that's a separate issue for another day.

Both were ahead of us in the standings when they decided to pack it in. Note that I'm not faulting them for their decision, as if I had been the Whitechapel owner I probably would have gone further and gutted the Slashers completely. It just would have been nice to experience one season of glory before coming here to get our heads kicked in for Season 8. In any case, I don't want to distract the forum any further. There are too many good teams and owners in WEAA2 Zeta to be preoccupied with this nonsense when the playoffs are going on.

Couldn't agree more with your last statement. I'm glad you're content agreeing to disagree.
