Im happy where The Nites are ranked. We have had many great seasons and championships in Oceania. The reason we are ranked lower is because of scrimmages. Not to mention, Zeta is tougher top to bottom. I wished we were all in the same conference......NOW THAT WOULD BE SICK! I just think if teams are closely ranked some past history and playoff records have to be taken into account. 16-1 playoff record has count for something.

I've been lobbying for you guys and had TIT, NITES, and MM all ranked close together in my submission. We've made an effort to just look at this season's stuff, but after watching you guys for the past 5 seasons - your success and the success you guys have been associated with (Cans, Fakaofo, etc.) is stuck in my head (I watched Vin Numbers break tackles for three seasons before we finally got the chance to face him, and still couldn't shut him down.)

And, I personally try to use scrimmage results only as a factor in sifting out closely ranked teams.

Good luck the rest of the way over there in Zeta, it's going to be tough on both sides of the league in round 2 and beyond.

I get so sick hearing how much of a meat grinder Zeta is and the whole top to bottom chest bumping song and dance. Why the hell don't you guys come out and say it, you have no respect for Cajun, Bombsquad, Mustangs and The Bandits; or any Alpha team for that mater. I can tell you one thing, until you guys in Zeta start getting you some Invader, TIT and Mean Machine ass; you have no room to talk. I pull for Alpha because that is my conference, but I don’t feel the need to talk down Zeta to spike our ego. You don't see me are any of the other owners crying about how teams Zeta teams get a free ride until the playoffs or how easy it is because the BIG 3 of Oceania are in Alpha. If that irritates some of you then that’s awesome, that’s the same crap we have to listen to on a regular basis. I try to scrimmage as many Zeta teams that will except for the #1 reason, I’m tired of listening to grown men cry. We damn sure are not afraid to loose to one of the Great Zeta Meatgrinders. The beauty of being in Alpha you don’t have to worry about being in some total GLB rankings, you can bank on 2-3 losses a season. We play to win, we play anyone, and make no excuses. We have won some games and we have lost some games but the only teams to really hand us our ass are in Alpha! I never claimed my bunch was anything more than over achieving playoff fodder, maybe its time to face the facts with your own squads instead of crying about what might have been.

I'd love to scrim the Nites every season . . . of course I'd rather play you in the Finals, but short of that, I'll shoot a friendly as soon as we both are eliminated.

The difficulty isn't taking scrimmages more seriously, the difficulty is in determining which scrims were taken seriously and which were for testing AI, etc. But that applies to all teams in all leagues, you can't look at any team without wondering which scrims were for real. Until Bort allows us to determine public/private scrimmages we're stuck seeing both the serious/tournament scrimmages as well as the lab sessions.

Personally, this is why I weight games in unofficial tournaments or Pro vs. Pro games a whole lot higher than random scrims. With those high-profile matchups, you've got a pretty good idea both teams are playing to win.

There is a lot more attention being paid across leagues among the top-ranked teams. This season shows that, if you want to be considered the best of the best, you can't take any scrims off. You have to play every one of them to win.

As for the Nites, I'd say that in order to improve their stock, they need to schedule more scrims against more high-profile teams. I only see two scrims against fellow top-25 teams (loss to Yetis, win over Krazy Monkeys). It doesn't help that nobody else in the conference made the top-25.

Wow. A few things jump out at me when reading this:

I don't see anyone else whining or crying about the differences in the two conferences, your post was the first hissy fit I have seen about this.

I can only assume this is in response to the talk about the 'Nites. The 'Nites have won back to back OPL championships, have been in 3 straight championship games and only lost the last one to MM by two points. They are at least equal to MM, WS or TiTs. No one was crying about anything, the subject was these subjective overall rankings, so we were discussing that, big fucking deal.

The fact that Alpha has more guts, the results of the Alpha Vs. Zeta matches, 11-5 in Zetas favor, with three wins coming from the big 3 for Alpha and common sense all dictate that Zeta is stronger top to bottom. Just look at your team who lost to Fiji as an example, they barely made the playoffs in Zeta. Additionally, CCC was not even challenged in any of their games outside of the big 3 and a middle of the pack Zeta team.

Take some of your own advice; until one of you other Alpha teams can beat TiTs, WS or MM you have no room to talk, it will just be the big three and some other teams in Alpha. Zeta > Alpha top to bottom, all there is to it.
