If you guys were apparently stupid like me, and never changed this from the default AI (which I never had an issue with this particular problem...)
The default "down by field goal or less" in the 4th quarter AI = ONLY in the last 40 seconds, apparently. However, the default "down late" setting stretches into the last 2 mins, and has no setting for field goal range or line of scrimmage settings. SIGH. Big sigh. My own fault for not peering at those default settings more closely, but. Well. Shit.
So basically, change that "down by field goal or less late in game" in the 4th quarter to 120 seconds and you should be fine. But seriously. Shit.
