As a huge Oilers fan back in the day, that game was the worst I had ever seen. To this day, I still get worried whenever a backup QB comes into the game.

Duke v. UVA, 2/1/2007.

When you're playing Duke in basketball and you've got a solid team with a chance at an upset, it's ALWAYS going to be fun. The atmosphere was electric that night. UVA clawed back to take Duke to overtime. Then, with a chance to win it, Sean Singletary wrote his name in the pantheon of UVA greats with this:

I've NEVER heard an arena explode like this one did. The video recording didn't do this scene justice.

September 2000, Fenway. Pedro pitched a gem (1 or 2 hitter). Just a beautiful performance by a pitcher at a peak that hadn't been seen in a generation, and likely wouldn't be seen again for another generation. I was with my dad, and we were down between 1st and home under the ovehang.

1986 Celts vs. Trailblazers at the old Garden. That was the one home game the Celtics lost that year! That's right, they went 40-1.

Game one of WS Tampa and Philly seats behind home plate. Utley's HR was pretty coolio.

Bills smashing the dolphins last year in NY was pretty rockin too.

2001 GMAC Bowl

Marshall - 64
East Carolina- 61

We(East Carolina) were ahead 38-8 at halftime led by David Garrard. In the second half Byron Leftwich rallied Marshall back against the Pirate D to score a TD as time expired. Marshall missed the extra point to win it so the game went into OT. Marshall ended up going on to win in OT.

Even though we lost, it was one of the greatest games I've ever seen(including TV) and the greatest sporting event I've ever attended.

I've seen some pretty special games over the years. I was lucky enough to be at Syracuse from 85-89 and had season tickets every year, so I saw some epic college hoops matchups. It didn't get any better than SU-G'town in the 80's.

But the greatest game I've ever seen live in any sport was October 16, 2003. I'd moved to New York. A friend scored his company's seats to Game 7 of the ALCS. Yankees vs. Red Sox. Pedro vs. Rocket. Huge momentum swings as the Sox jumped out to a 4-0 lead and the Yankees clawed their way back to tie it at 5-5 with three runs in the eighth. Extra innings. The tension of the rivalry was almost palpable. Tim Wakefield looked good until Aaron Boone launched one over the wall in left field. The stadium erupted. It felt like the entire city erupted. What a moment.
