Nice idea Whitechapel... your running game wasn't dominant, but 3-4 yards per carry every time and going for it on 4th and short will work pretty often if you catch the defense off guard.
Unfortunately, that's also why this game will never be that great for game planning - if we were able to adjust to your game plan, you'd have gotten destroyed (well... can't speak for our offense, but you'd have been down to 2 YPC instead of 4). As it stands, well played.
If you could adjust, I would assume we could as well, so to say you would have destroyed us, well........it is what it is right? Don't you think I accounted for that before setting this gameplan up, if there were in-game adjustments, obviously we wouldn't have done it this way. Nevertheless, the gamble worked, and we here are happy about that
I'm not saying that it was a bad idea... just that it was a lame idea, shows nothing about who's better (except that you seemed to think that we were, so you couldn't pull out an honest win), just who can abuse the system more. Maybe soon, we'll have everybody running all or nothing offenses to try to abuse the system, then this game will really reach its potential.
Though to our defense's credit, holding you guys to 4 yards per carry with our passing defense against your running game every play is pretty respectable. It's just hard to do less than the 4 yards on a carry when you have 5 guys in the box, so there were a lot of 4 yard carries
.I will say this, I am not going to get into a pissing contest on which team is better and that we couldn't play an honest game....blah....blah. I personally thought I would try a different stategy, which is what coaches need to do to keep a team off balance, did it work....obviously, we won. Excuses are no good to me, so I am not hearing them. You have the same opportunity to run whichever Offense you see fit, I chose this one for our game....and it worked.
Another thing, I was taught. My college Offensive coordinator would always say...."If you can average 3.4 yards per carry, we can't lose" "3.4 + 3.4 + 3.4 = First Down, all we ask is 3.4 yards per carry" We went well over that mark today, so I guess in theory he was right
