You know a fix for this is coming next season. Strength builds will be fashionable just as soon as the OT's back off STR.

It's just best to build a strong AND fast OT and not worry about what the DE does. You are kinda forced to do that anyways since you can't match up OT's against specific DE's. You have to be able to handle both strength and speed guys.

Sure, strength guys don't do anything NOW, but don't count on that continuing. After all, three seasons ago speed DE's weren't worth jack, now they are the geese that lay the golden eggs (at least until Bort kills 'em).

i doubt 80+ strength DEs will ever be a problem. even if strength DEs are able to get past a 50 str OT, they wont be as savage as speed DEs are currently. just the fact that they touch the OT means they get delayed more than a speed DE. then they'll take longer to cover the distance because they'll only have 50 or 60 speed instead of the 80 or 90 speed that speed DEs have.

The difference is that it takes at least 50 speed to start converting hurries into sacks, so an 80 STR DE, even if they would shove the OL over in 2 frames, would be too slow to get to the QB before he delivers the ball.

In real life a LOT can play ROT or either G position as well. They are just as strong as the other lineman, but have to be athletic. Which means have SPD and AGL. This games much the same. Your LOT must be much stronger than the RDE if he's going to slow him down or push him off his line. And the RDE must be much faster than the LOT if he's to get to the QB. But the LOT has to have the AGL and SPD to move. You need more balance, but you can still plan it long term and build a stat at a time or something like that. Now in real life you LOT is usually by far your best blocker too. But in this game traditionally STR has been rewarded. But in real life your 5 OL and the 2 DTs are the strongest players on the field. There are changes being made and more to come. The changes all center around how the OT functions thought not the DEs. So it's real hard to pin this problem down. But it's safe to say the LOT and then to a lesser extint the ROT need more balance between SPD/BLK/AGL/SPD/VIS/CON than the other OL. That guy on the left edge needs that VIS & CON too.
