A few insights from week one:
The new guys went 7-6, but let's throw out the two matchups against each other (Yellow Devils beat the Cheetahs 48-14 & Sting beat the Predators 272-0), putting them at 5-4. The Admirals (34-30 over the Fire Horses) actually beat a Zeta playoff teams from last season. The rest of the wins came at the expense of the Samurai, the Dogs, the Water Dragons, and the Waves. One could possible say that for these 4 teams, the playoffs may be out of the picture already. Returning playoff teams (the Rush, the Metalheads, the Addiction, and the Psychonauts) handled the new guys with relatively no troubles.
Two matchups between returning playoff teams. The Cheap Toys got by the Firebirds 17-14 and the Mountain Men did in the Elephant Riders 30-19. Perhaps Alpha has closed the gap between the two conferences?
An impressive win by the Pretenders (108-14) over a Cyberballers team that was vastly improved in the 2nd half last season. Are they that good or did the Manila team take a step backwards?
The Tigers knocked off the Pits (20-14) in a matchup of teams that hope to take a step forward this season. Both appear to be in the same place, so hard to tell if either is ready to move into playoff contention.
