If someone sets thier tactics to be 80% run 20% pass, yet the computer does the exact opposite, it CANT be working as intended! It would be BROKEN! Im half tempted to set my run game to 100% for the next game, and see how many passes the computer actually forces me to throw! At least it would be closer to what my team actually needs to do as opposed to throwing the ball 50+ times to all CPU recievers, when he has a level 8 human RB with 40+ speed in the backfield to hand the ball off to. Rediculous! Our 3rd game was a little better then the 2nd, but it was only because I set passing higher then I normally would have.

Regardless, this needs at the bare minimum, looked at and retested!

Are you using the auto-adjustment in tactics? If so, it is why you are seeing these anomalous results.

NO! Auto-adjustments have been turned OFF since the first game! Thats why it didnt make any sense!

Since it "works as intended" you just haven't got the sense. You think, it should make sense for you. But obviously - it is supposed to make sense for the guys running this site.

Maybe there is a idea of "figure out, what is most likely to get plays 10 yards + and go on that when needed", maybe it calculates the supposed efficiency of running plays according to defence plays so far (and goes for passing because of that), maybe it has a setting "try to fool defense by playing the opposite till they adjust", maybe it looks at backups coming in ... or whatever.

By now, nobody knows except for guys making that software.

If you really want to find out - find games where it worked out pretty well and compare to the others. I'm sure, you find some similar things in each group. It is the only way to find out; asking and complaining won't help.

Bort has said in various threads several times that if a team gets way ahead or way behind that the sim will ignore the tactics and revert to the mode that best suits the situation. For example, if a team is down 21-0 it will go to passing the ball in an attempt to come back even if you have run set at 100%. If you ar up 21-0 it will go to running the ball in an attempt to run the clock down even if you have the pass set at 100%. It will still run and/or pass, it just won't do it at the frequency that you desired. The further ahead or behind you get, the more it will deviate from it.

At least that has been my experience in the games I have been involved in.

Personally my team has come out throwing more often then running before a score hit the board with the auto djust off and I had my settings a running more. but I figure it has something to do with levels of certain players and the situation so i'm just going to keep testing it out.

I lightly skimmed over your game. Everything I saw seemed pretty realistic to a real game. Early in the game your HB was getting shut down. Team would pass to try to get a first down, usually a failure. But the pass was getting a few yards here and there, which couldn't be said about the run game. Your D couldn't stop the other team's O, so the score got pretty bad pretty quick. So you had to pass it. The run game started working a little better late in the game, but by then it was far too late. Even if the game had stuck strictly to your tactics, it wouldn't have helped. If the run game had worked early in the game, you may have seen a completely different spread of play types. So I think the system works pretty good as is, IMO.

The other thing is probably down/distance...

Settings at 60/40 run/pass:
1st down 10 to go, AI selects the "random" play based on your tactics. It runs. You get a loss on the play.
2nd and 11. Now AI has to TRY to get a first down, so the odds of a play getting half the yardage are probably included, so passing becomes a bit higher according to the AI. You run pass and incomplete, or get a couple yards...
3rd and long (>8)...if 2nd down was a pass, 3rd down most likely has to be a pass, so now the ratio has gone to 2/1 pass...

If you have a good HB, and yet he's not getting yardage to move the sticks, what is the right thing for the AI to do?

It would be pretty boring if the AI followed your game plan of 60/40 run/pass and kept the run/pass at exactly 3/2, or as close to it, the entire game, regardless of down/distance...imagine always running on 3rd and long because your run/pass on 1st/2nd failed to get any yardage...just to keep the ratio correct...

or the opposite, if it third and short because 2 running plays got you 9 yards, but now you have to PASS! Incomplete and punt...

You can't have it both ways...either the AI does the "best" thing for the situation, or it blindly follows...

or if your defense had not allowed the opposing team to score at willl...

It really is about the situation...if you want it to do exactly what your tactics say, then be prepared for the passes on short yardage situations because you have that "30" on pass...

Guys guys guys stop with the crapping on the OP. He has a very valid point in which you guys have failed to see time after time after time in this thread.

The "working as intended" is not "working as intended" in this case. By turning off the tactic adjustment option you are telling the computer to sim your game as "you" have set it not to what the computer should thinks you should run statistically. So yes he is correct in saying in this situation it may be broken. If he had it on then he is in the wrong and you would be right.

BTW this isnt the NFL, never was never will be so stop referring to it or saying an "NFL coach" would be fired for doing "that".

On one hand, I don't know why you wouldn't want the play calling to change when you are down significantly. That being said, what is the purpose of having an Auto Adjust ON/OFF option if when you select OFF it's not really off?

I don't have to agree with the play calling of the OP, but I agree with him complaining that the feature is not working properly. Perhaps selecting OFF simply means Auto Adjust LESS LIKELY. Either change the result from selecting off, or change the options to say something like 100%/50%

If auto-adjust is turned off then it should just run your game plan all game long despite the outcome of it. That is the point of turning auto-adjust off isn't it?

Certain things can't be turned off. For instance, if you're up by a ton, you're going to run more. If you're down by a ton, you're going to throw more. That's just how it is.

Yes, that is how it "Should" work. If that is not how it works, then turning off the computer adjustments shouldn't even be an option.

I think you have no clue what "Working as intended" means. Which is amusing, considering there's no hidden meaning. This feature is working exactly as the developers want it to work. It is working as intended. It is not working how certain players feel it should work. It might not be working as advertised, working usefully, etc... but it IS working as INTENDED.
