The formula also doesn't take into account the fact that some of these guys are backups and so (a) are more likely to play against weaker OTs, and (b) may also play on special teams, so their plays are artificially higher than they would otherwise be (and the only stat they can get on STs is FFum). A righteous formula would be throw all of the cake stats out the door.Only use stats that have accrued through playing the top 8 or 9 teams in Alpha. Bo54 Isn't even close to the top when all of the leagues DE's get 12 sacks against a level 10 that shouldn't count. So even layer it down. Like going against top 6 teams stats should count as 1.0 then next 3 should count as .8 of a stat then all of the numbers come down considerably. You will find that our DE's aren't as dominant as you would think.The way I judge when scouting is if i'm going to have a problem with the RDE pressure and if i'm going to be able to run up that LDE's gap.


Madcow is on to something though how can a DE call himself the best when he gets shut out with equal competition?

I hate to agree with Captain Facism but hes totally right. First up the formula the way youve laid it out doesnt even work anyway but without linear (or log I guess but lets keep it relatively simple) weighting and regression to the mean shit you cant have a proper statistical formula.

I dont know about missed tackles though - theyre a bit like errors in baseball and really difficult to fit into a model properly.

yea, if all these DEs are God's gift to their teams, why cant they get a sack vs someone 5+ levels lower.. honest question in the way. its not like their is a lot of gameplanning for a LOT. Im not out thinking you guys. We dont have overly complex blocking schemes...

If you or anyone wants to come up with the perfect formula, go for it. You'd have to really figure it out, AND post the results for everyone though. And that would take hours upon hours. Instead of the 40 minutes I spent doing this one.
That's why I just did this quick one, which works well for a quick one IMO.

You'd have to take the top teams, plus figure out the better O-line's and weight them differently, and really look at EACH play to see which OT they beat, and.... yeah, too much

I want the guys that shut down the receivers not allow them to walk all over them. And Snaza that would go in your guys favor as it should.

Heh, I'm definitely more concerned with the playoffs this year than the All League voting. Although I'll still co-ordinate it just b/c I know what I'm doing, and no one else has to deal with all that shit

But yeah, PD's are SO much more important for DB's. But it'll be hard, b/c some of those tackles are run stopping tackles. Although most aren't. Maybe avg completions against? And average pass yards per pass attempted or something...
And good luck with the formula for Pass Rushers, it's gonna be hard. Although you should have a general idea of who the better players are. Which should show you if it's working as intended or not.
