Hey, this is interesting stuff, thanks.

The forum for the league we were promoted from was NOTHING like this one... you guys actually talk about the game 95% of the time.

Also it's interesting that the Alchemy is a reasonably competitive middle-of-the-pack contenderish-type team, even though we just got promoted from an initially capped league... it's a testament to KevinM, I guess (not to blow smoke up his ass or anything).

Yes definitely have shown competitiveness. These gutted teams though are a first for us. We havent really seen anything this bad since we all began as expansions in this conference. We have had some strong team histories here and some rivalry battles especially w/ Tonga, ourselves, El Fuego, Horsemen, etc.

I'm hoping there will be a strong rivalry or two spring from this season for us. We look like a solid lower-tier playoff team, which means that there's a good chance we will play spoilers for somebody and cost them a playoff seed or two. Maybe even bump someone out of the playoffs directly, which always makes for good competition the next season.

Boy, there may very well be a lot riding on that Tonga-Christchurch game this year. And perhaps even much more in the playoffs. We've had a good rivalry here, and perhaps we may have one final battle in the playoffs to decide it. It's early, but you never know!

And Solomon Islands has been pretty impressive this year, as I don't see you all missing the playoffs. Hopefully, you all don't play the spoilers for us, now, haha. But it's not the easiest thing to do what you all have done, and I tip my cap to you for it.

13. Tasmanian Devils (71.2) - I'm not sure what to think of this team. They seem to play a bunch of close losses to teams that theoretically outclass them, which suggests they have good plans and builds - and then the Sand Gnats give 'em all they can handle. I'm not ready to say they can't be a playoff team yet, but I need more evidence either way.

Well, today's game was a good start at providing that evidence.

Isn't that the truth!

Zeta Conference Rankings - Week 7

1. Tonga Thunderbirds (120.7) - Tonga got a bump in the statistics side of the rankings thanks to their Brisbane game. Powering through an early nightmare schedule, they are still the only team in the conference with a victory against a team above .500 after 6 games. Christchurch, Dunedin and Alice Springs are their primary obstacles to an undefeated season, but it'll be a few weeks before any of them come up.

2. Christchurch Knightmares (116.0) - While they must of course keep the Tonga game in four weeks in mind, Christchurch will have to keep their eye more on the short term with El Fuego and the Bandits due up sooner. They'll be significant favorites in the official Sarg's Not-the-Game-of-the-Week game today.

3. El Fuego (104.0) - Trailing the second spot by 12 points in these rankings, it's going to take everything the Fuegos have to come out on top this week. It doesn't get all that much easier from there, either. Not counting the Sand Gnats, their next 4 opponents have a combined 26-3 record.

4. Four Horsemen (98.8) - A clear favorite today vs. the Alchemy, the Horsemen will be waiting to snag the #3 spot if the Fuegans can't keep the score reasonable.

5. Chinese Bandits (97.8) - Movin' on up! Facing what will probably be a non-contest with Redscape today, the Bandits will have to wait a week for the Fuego-Knightmare-Horseman trifecta to test their new ranking spot.

6. Dunedin Wolverines (97.8) - Battles against power-ranking neighbors are always fun, but Mauna Kea's on the wrong side of the break between the elite teams and the borderline playoff teams. A 9 point ranking advantage means they should certainly keep things respectable, but a Chenabog win would be a bit of a surprise.

7. Mauna Kea Chenabogs (88.6) - On the other hand, it could be time for the Chenabogs to prove they can hang with the big boys of Zeta. They're likely to make the playoffs no matter what, but a win today would lock that in for sure.

8. Coney Island Warriors (86.9) - .... Beep .... Beep .... Beep ....

9. Solomon Islands Alchemy (84.6) - Unless the Cholesterol Coneys drop a game they shouldn't (like, oh, say vs the Devils today?) The Alchemy are going to have to upset someone to get into the playoffs. The Horsemen don't seem like the most likely candidate.

10. Tasmanian Devils (81.1) - If ye be a playoff team, it be time ta stand up an' be counted, lest ye vanish inta the wilderness.

11. Uluru Rockies (80.5) - A tough week 16 draw means sweeping Cimmeria, Coney, Devils and Alchemy to get in, unless they plan on upsetting Tonga, Christchurch or Dunedin. But first, a bye week to think about things.

12. Cimmerian Barbarians (80.5) - Tiebreaks the wrong way, momentum is against them and they have to play in Tonga this week. Good luck with the rest of your season, guys.

13. Redscape Diplomats (76.3) - While there are still 7 winnable games on their schedule, they're going to have to figure out how to beat the Bandits this week if they want to have any morale left by the time they get to them. Frankly, I just don't see it.

14. Tasmania Sand Gnats (69.4) - Won't be winless for long.

Los Cabolo and Brisbane are not ranked due to incomplete rosters.

did we go from an 87 to a 97 score just by adding a kicker?

You get +5 for the win, too.

And Sarg, thanks for taking the time to do these ratings. I truly do appreciate them, and it certainly makes everything more fun around here!
Hopefully we'll stay in that #1 spot for a few more weeks!
