How about Wake Forest?

Really?

That's the card you want to play? The "Wake Forest is a perennial college football powerhouse" card?

Firstly, VT hasn't played Wake in two years, VT won 27-6 in the 2006 season. Even in 2006, the Wake Forest offense mustered around 24 points a game with a high of 38 v Maryland (W) and a low of 6 v VT (L). Hardly a high powered offense to use as a judge of VT's defensive might.

Secondly, Wake has been to one New Years day bowl in the past million years (2006, loss to Louisville). They just aren't an impressive team - they are on the rise, but they are not impressive yet.

Which brings us to VT v Nebraska - beating VT will be a good move for you guys, but it is hardly a sign that you're "back." Getting rid of Callahan and picking up Pellini was a huge move in the right direction. Your games v Missouri and Oklahoma will be much bigger indicators of your place in the world than some crappy team out east. Yes, I called VT crappy.

Ok, what I meant to say is that they will be heading in the right direction. No need to be an asshat. Besides, if you want to talk college football, don't hijack this thread. Start a new one, and I will gladly talk college football. Thanks!

What a difference a season makes.... this forum went from life support last season to "not so bad" this season.

I think it helps that we added some very good teams from the BBB. Competition seems tougher!

Thanks for the PR's Husker. Keep up the good work... More BYB love is much appreciated.

How about NU vs. Kansas? That'll be a telling one too, since the Jayhawks are a solid team that, by the way, beat VA Tech last year in the Orange Bowl and has beaten NU two out of the past four years. They haven't, however, won in Lincoln in forty years.

Personally I watch Big 12 games for one reason and one reason only, and that's to see Iowa State get beaten. Go Hawkeyes.

The first game that will decide if Nebraska is on track is their game in just over two weeks in Lubbock. Last time the Huskers came to town Tech handed them a 70-10 ass whipping. It shouldn't be hard to improve on that, but can Bo shut down one of the best offenses in the Nation on the road? That will tell everyone a lot about Nebraska.

E Washington did. What's up with Tech this season? I thought they would be untouchable for the most part, but haven't looked the best. Nothing like I would have imagined anyways. We shut down an offensive team with a QB who has thrown for over 7500 yards his last two seasons, so I'm confident that Bo will have them ready. We may not win, but you won't see an assbeating like that again!

I'm not worried about Tech's offense right now. We are never good on opening day and with the cupcake schedule we've had, our coaches have been trying out some new things on offense. We have run the ball A LOT more than in the past and have two really good RB's. I admit Harrell has been lackluster so far, but he will be fine. What impresses me has been the play of our defense. I know it may not look great on the scoreboards, but they are so much better than the past and have stepped up huge when needed.

Trust me, I in no way believe we come anywhere close to beating you as bad this time. I will be happy with a win as Nebraska is always a tough opponent.

Not this year! I would put the Big 12 up against the SEC all day long. It's damn close and no other conference comes anywhere close to these two.

I heard Coach Leach offered a guy from the stands who kicked a FG at half time to walk onto the team. Is your Kicker that bad?

Also, I will find the sound bite of Coach Leach offering Dating advice to a Red Raider Fan who called his Coach's Show, This was not you was it Dloth35?

Just wondering, not going to well in Aggieland right now, Hope we get it together in about two or three years, we look very slow.

The rumor about the kicker is true. The kid kicked a 30 yard FG for rent and the ball was still elevating as it went through the top of the uprights. As the kid was walking up the tunnel, one of our trainers grabbed him and took him to Leach. Leach told the kid to stop by his office on Tuesday. Haven't heard anything else on it. The kid kicked in high school. Our kicker hasn't performed as we all had hoped. We got spoiled with Trilica. Our kicker is a freshmen so it's understandable it is taking some time to adjust.

No, it wasn't me asking for dating advice from Leach. Although, I'd love to hear what he had to say. Even if you don't like the guy, he's freaking hilarious!

Let me know if this works, it is very funny.

While I agree that there are no conferences close to these two, I would put our top 6 against your top 6 and our bottom 6 against your bottom 6 and bet the house that we win 8 or 9 of those games.

When you get down to it, TTech may be the best SEC matchup - I won't hit the "SEC = speed" button too much, but TTech is probably the only offense in the Big 12 that has the speed and depth on offense to keep up with the big boys in the SEC.

I think that Nebraska will come around in a couple years - they have a very good coach and I think that ut is perpetually overvalued by BCS voters and is no where near as good as advertised. ut has benefitted from the same forces that USC has - big dog in a small yard - for awhile now. The difference being that there are now some other big dogs in the Big 12 yard and there are still none in the Pac-1 playground.
