Great game to Tripoli...our games come down to who misses the most opportunities..last season we gave up the ball inside your red zone on our final drive (on top of many missed 3rd downs with a Jizzy-less offense), this season we take away 2 of your passes on top of your missed FGs and PATs...I think we now know the key to winning our match-ups, follow through on opportunities.
I will say though that I'm excited for Iowa's prospects this season now after the win, because it was a secondary game plan we used, and wasn't our first choice and the game's results proved that it probably needed to be our first choice. On top of that the final Tripoli TD was in garbage time, so the score really probably finished out 22-12 without the last score in garbage time being figured in. Regardless, great game by both sides.
Not only am I glad that we kept it civil this time, but I'm also glad that I "didn't have to come up with another list of excuses" as I recall being told I'd have to do last season. Looking forward to seeing Tripoli again in the playoffs as I'm sure we will.
