UPCOMING GAMES OF THE WEEKAlpha Conference - Maybe I just missed it, but are there really any good games in Alpha this week?
Davenport vs. Messina - I guess I'll go with this game as it seems like maybe the Tigers and Blazers, while woeful, could have a close game, albeit without any playoff implications down the road. I could be persuaded to change this pick however, what do you think, is maybe
Belfast vs. Flying Monkeeh or
Maranello vs. Irish a better Game of the Week?
Zeta Conference - Now Zeta is more like it. There are at least three games I'm looking foward to, including:
Rome vs. Dublin - The Shamrocks are coming off a disappointing 120 point victory (disappointing that they had to even play the game), while the Poison comes off a close game at home against the Jaguars. Rome has been the Zeta favorite from day 1 this season, but the Shamrocks look to avenge the 10 point loss they suffered at home last year against the Poison.
Polk High vs. Mannheim - Meanwhile, the Jaguars look to rebound from their 4 point defeat at the hands of the Poison. On the other side of the field, Polk has provided a strong showing so far this season, and may have even surpassed the Poison as the Zeta favorites. We'll get a better idea this week as the Panthers face what should be their toughest game yet. Could home field advantage be the difference for the Jaguars to give them their first ever win against the Panthers on the second leg of this tough Rome/Polk High back-to-back.
Eastwick vs. Helsinki - Don't really know what to say other than this game should be a battle. Both teams are 5-1 and looking to be considered for the Zeta title. Looking at common opponents, Eastwick and Helsinki are both 1-1 against Mannheim and Dublin (with different results against each). I don't know who will win here, but I'm anxious to find out.
Least Anticipated Game of the Week - Lots of Games in Alpha for this category in Week 7. I could have gone with the
Italian vs. Reykjavic or
Dublin vs. the Soft Fluffies games, but I'll instead choose:
Black Country vs. Jellystone - Watch for Knights to bounce back after the defeat at the hands of the mighty Vols by laying down an epic beating on the Park Bruins. I'll be mildly surprised if the Knights don't put up 80 points in this game, while maybe giving up a single score. No offense intended to the Park Bruins, but the Knights are simply the better (much, much, much better) team here.
