She turned her phone off. She has FB, but doesn't really use it. She's kind of a hippy. And, it's not a shock for her to turn off her phone all day. It does seem intentional at this point (although, we can't figure out why), but there is still the possibility that she was abducted and someone is staying out the picture, but is manipulating her.

Found her. She checked in.

She claims she was going shopping in Houston with the dog. (There's some market she likes there.) She says she forgot her phone charger. (Didn't think to buy one.) Eventually ran out of gas because they cancelled her cards. So, she called home from a lady's house phone.

Sounds like b.s. to me. She ran away and just didn't get very far on her own.

I made it to the end of the block the last time I ran away. I suppose some children run away when they are 6 and some run away when they are 26.

Then again, I've thought of the idea of just cutting all ties with my life and checking out.

If I hadn't got into law school, I might have done just that. Quit my job, sell my house, clear out my investments, sell my car, and just go somewhere. Travel for a bit when you want to, have no obligations to anyone... there was a certain allure to adopting a bohemian lifestyle and just living off what I had and what people were willing to share. Maybe someplace in Europe. Maybe Hawaii. Maybe Brazil.

Just me, a Canadian passport, and $150,000. Live off everything I'd earned and earn a little here and there. No checking in with anyone, just a note every now and then to tell them that you are alive. There is something seductive about the idea.

Of course if/when you return home, you've blown your entire equity and have to start over, so that kind of kills the dream.

She's very hippy and Bohemianish. But, we're talking about a girl who once flooded the first 2 stories of a hotel because she fell asleep in the tub with the water on. So, who knows?

She's coming home to a 72-hour psycho eval, though.

For my school being a predominately engineering school, they're awful at logistics and planning. My required classes are all from 9:25-1pm all 5 weekdays, zero flexibility. That kinda throws a wrench in my plans to give myself 1-2 weekdays + Saturday to work. And I'm hovering at 2.1 class hours per credit hour when it's supposed to be ~1 per.

Boo college.

Edit: There have been complaints that there are more lecture seats than lab seats. (If you dont have lab, you cannot take the class) The university said they checked and there were enough. I now see the issue. 2 of the labs are at the exact same time as the one lecture available, and as such they are empty. GG.

More or less standard particularly for specialized courses.

That's pretty stupid.

Willing or no? In Illinois that would not be legal. Don't know how it goes in other states.

Unexpectedly went out after work to celebrate a coworkers last day, didn't get home until 530. Working with a lot of young, outgoing people in a stressful environment has its benefits.

I am not sure I would spin that as a positive in any way. Insane people and those with dementia are not really popular debate adversaries either.

Nobody wants to argue with anyone. If you mean have a debate nobody wants to have one with you because you're an obnoxious ass.

There are lots of obnoxious asses. What makes me a particularly bad target is that I'm an obnoxious ass who is devastatingly intelligent, dogged, vindictive, and successful. And yet people keep lining up to get pummeled. I guess it's the idea that winning an argument against me feels better than against anyone else since it so rarely happens, and people constantly delude themselves into thinking they can do it.
