Eventually we would, but with BEEF going under this offseason I think we may just have to make it through this season and next season before most of our defensive holes are replaced with Superstars.

We went with 5 pass rush DT's because we wanted to hit people with the 5-2 heavy but once we got going that didn't seem like a worthwhile venture so we put that to bed.

So how are you going to fill the holes? s* Run LB, DE, and DT to replace some of your current guys?

Yup, this was just supposed to be the fun team while BEEF was supposed to be the baby but this season has shown it isn't worth taking a licking to get to veteran league. If we wanted to putz around with a useless team for half a year before hitting anything resembling fun we would just head back to GLB1.

We have been mulling a couple different options. My Safety will be on the team next season. If we remake any superstars they wouldn't hit the team until professional. So we would have to remake the defense next season like we did with Watchers of the Wall this offseason. And then just wait it out and bring in the superstars in during professional tier. For sure would bring in 2 superstar LB's. And then probably a pair of corners I think. I don't think we need the superstar dline at all.

I don't wanna claim I know anything about pure run offenses. But in the past 3 games your team seems stubbornly determined to run with the QB instead of the 2 S* RB's. 121 QB rushes to 39 rushes to one HB and 19 to the other HB.

I mean, with so many rushes to only 1 guy, even if he does find daylight, he's not taking it to the house. The below play would've been a touchdown if the QB wasn't running around with no energy. He's normally faster than all of the defenders, and they aren't in position to catch him anyways, so this should be 7 points.

The defender fired closing speed. It wasn't gonna be a touchdown no matter what energy he was at.

It isn't just me feeling the pain here. If it were, I would be fine with the criticism and just take my lumps until I can better the gameplan. But from a defensive perspective that won't be at least until professional.

HB - MyFeetyBeSpeedy averaged 7.5 yards per carry
HB - Destroyer of Worlds averaged 5.5 yards per carry
QB - EMP averaged 0.9 yards per carry

Guess who ASU gave the rock to 46 times?

Guess who's been getting fed the rock 80%+ of the time in ASU's offense for literally ever?

ya qb running pretty much sucks at this point

any time a single defensive play can shut down an entire type of offense (rushing; both inside and out), you know something is fucked up. 4-3 cover 3 buzz shuts down outside rushing AND inside rushing; I'm talking sub-2 ypc consistently. If you can't pass, you can't score against decent DCs until power backs start breaking tackles.

I've used 4-3 Cover 3 Buzz a lot, but how is it foolproof? Offenses average 4.11 YPC per running play vs 4-3 Cover 3 Buzz Season 11 Sophomore. Each of 2TE and 2WR has multiple plays averaging > 5 YPC vs it.

You spammed against run right. I would have scored 50 had I just run left.

2.24 ypc season 10 soph combined vs. inside/outside run according to Stobie's history thingie.

I'm not going anywhere. My rushing attack will be nasty in a few seasons.

no matter how hard you try, you'll only ever be the 2nd best rushing team in this tier

And still had 8 plays averaging over 5 YPC vs it. It does not shut down all plays - No Name ran it vs Omaha last season and got brutalized to the tune of 6.3 YPC.

EDIT: I'm not saying that the running game didn't get nerfed too hard - I'm just disputing your argument that there's any one given play vs any WR number formation that can stop all inside/outside runs reliably.

I didn't spam versus anything. That has been my generic run defense for almost a full season now.

It really won't. You have no superstars and by the time we hit pro I'll be able to shut you out just by using gl lb contain.

Ya last season I could brutalize a lot of plays really easy. Now not so much.
