Stunners score 48 second half points and get past a feisty Rhode Island team.

Just a PSA for future builders of cornerbacks,

If you're considering what you'll need to deal with a power rushing attack similar to Minnesota in the future, you will need a Cornerback built for run stuffing better than this:

http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/62502

Rhode Island has 5 of them built just like that. Total stats for a game against Minnesota: 0 tackles, 7 assists, 9 missed tackles, 0 fumbles forced, pancaked 26 times, 3 revcakes.

So whatever you're doing to try and make a guy that can help stuff the run, do something different than the above.

I'm going to be relying on Technique. That's how CBs are supposed to stop power HBs. I'm wondering if your guys were all 80 Tackle Tech with 50 Grip if they would have done better.

Plus higher Heart. Low Heart is a now a killer in this game.

Probably. I don't think you can even really try for outright tackles. You have to go for the "hang on till help arrives" strategy. Or you just screw coverage skills altogether and go full tackling and block engagement skills. If I took the 60+ investments in cov tech and deflection, and tacked that on to tackling, mentals, and block engaging stuff, maybe they'd be good enough to be serviceable. Turns out, they do alright defending the pass. Give up high reception % generally, but pick off a few passes here and there and have more than enough power tackling and strip technique to get multiple fumbles in games against the typical pass catchers. You won't stop a passing offense, but with a good scheme you can do just about as well at ending as many drives as the typical 80+ cov tech/deflection/man awareness type builds do running stuff like 3-3-5 Man Base.

It's pretty easy to nit-pick builds from the outside, but they do have incredibly low balance. That would at least explain the high # of Pancakes. As far as tackling goes, your CBs are not going to fair well 1v1 with a Powerback. All I hope mine do is slow them down and hope I have a 2nd defender coming to help clean up. Tackling does need some kind of boost though.

Yeah, if I did them again, I'd do them differently for sure.

Just thought it'd be useful to post for folks to see what didn't work

Tackle Tech and Grip are WAY to low. My run stuffer corners for Empire's Zone Strikes Back will have 89 Tack Tech and 75 Grip plus Gold Death Grip SA. I'll be damned if I let another power running back shred my defense again with my next team.

yeah, I probably wouldn't bother with the fumble forcing stuff again in a second attempt to build such a set of CBs. They cause fumbles, but not nearly often enough to be worthwhile, and especially not against elite HBs.

Future WRs wont be able to achieve nearly the blocking skills current ones have. My blocking WRs have 90+ Run Block Tech, I'd be lucky to get that to 70 after the changes

Ya 33 grip on all your guys is going to get you ran through all day. Most of my players have 50-70 grip which works well enough imo. Could be better. Just wish my guys were faster like Salty's defenders.

He will also end up with 45 strip tech....along with 91 pursuit and 68 Break Run Block. Will also gold Contain Expert and Silver Shed Block. So yeah...good luck running outside on the Empire's defense next season. And that is just one line of defense.
