am i lacking testosterone or something?

i feel sorry for people like boltz. i may do things like make the BoltzStalker™, but i'd rather help him out if he's just freaking listen for once.

I'm not sure I see your point here...

It's also worth noting that I've had civil conversations with SI, Ubasstards, roctronic, and onepeat, all of whom said they didnt really have a problem with me (at least then), and I've tried to explain to them what's getting them made fun of, but then they ignore me and call a retard like drksandman to come abuse his power...

That's the stigma, sure, but it's really not that accurate.

which part is the stigma?

i might be missing some of the timeline, but that doesn't erode my suspicion that most of the people that later end up being enraged didn't start off being congenial.
further, most of the resultant rage stems from "victims" trying to respond in kind. because of the asymmetry involved, they can never get nasty enough...

huh. didn't even know that was a "stigma", but okay.

and i fail to see how that isn't accurate... especially the latter part.

He won't listen.

I've spent hours trying to explain to him why he gets made fun of and picked on...he agrees to stop, then continues doing it after he is unbanned.

I mean, they were mostly on topic for about two pages each. You should be proud of that.

consider "GTFO".

Again, as has been said repeatedly...uptight douchebags who take the internet way too serious.
Refer to my threshold argument...it is impossible to please everyone unless you allow no negative talk at all.

instead of "uptight douchebags", how about "people who don't know the memes yet"?

and yes, the threshold argument is a tough one... but that doesn't mean there shouldn't be a threshold. theoretically, GLB would arbitrarily pick one, communicated it via rules, and enforce it with mods. so i think we're partially there -- the question is how to close the gap between forum rules and forum behavior in order to prevent what seems to be a frequent occurrence.

You're just plain incorrect about roctronic, tbh.

This, emphatically.

Yea Catullus knows that now, it jsut took him a while to reach the evidence. He's been responding to every post that like five of us have been making. Quite a feat tbh

i'm posting like a nazi.

GTFO is the only exception I can think of, because that does get tossed around a lot (its half-joking, but you can't blame a newbie for not knowing that) but even that isn't so common until someone roctronic's.

and then you've also got the effect that said newbie misperceives every further meme and inside joke as yet another personal attack.

i'm not saying this is right or wrong, i'm just trying to point to the mechanics of what happens.

Well, most of the newbies don't....

People who get offended and starts crying to admins when a random person on an internet forum says gtfo is pretty uptight and taking themselves/the internet way too seriously.

Has nothing to do with "knowing memes", it has to do with having thicker skin than a wet paper bag.

The problem is, this happens when users are new to the internet in general, as is wont to be the case for older people, under 15 year olds, and retards.

There is no counter defense. Just the fact that you can argue that the rules are flouted or you can argue tha tthey aren't. But if you argue that they are, you need to take into account this isn't exclusive to CPL because it literally happens in every forum. Yet we're having this conversation about CPL. So obviously it isn't due to the rule-flouting by itself.

"happens in every forum" = "everyone else is doing it"

i guess the point here is that since the GG crowd isn't wrong about the rule-flouting that then that needs to be addressed somehow. either adjust the forum rules (good luck), or create custom rules (and then also justify why the CPL gets that favor), or do the segregation thing... or get some sort of newbie-advocate to deflect this sort of thing.

let's agree that any other forum would be having these same issues if they were as active as the CPL. so this is nothing about the CPL regulars/mods in particular. given that it's a structural problem, i'm just wondering if there's a structural solution.

LOLOLOL WAT?
GTFO has been around WAY before GLB was even thought of.

that's not at all what i mean, of course.

i'm saying GTFO wasn't universal within GLB until a few seasons ago. same thing with "wat" a couple seasons before that.

now everyone says it and everyone gets it.

Change the rules and/or (and this part is necessary either way) fire the dozen mods who are godawful and replace them with people capable of using discretion in a responsible manner.

No forum anywhere are the rules completely followed excluding rule-less forums. But no forum is ever successful when mods are chosen so arbitrarily, given so much autonomy, and suck so badly.
