Anyone know when the fuck universities started doing a modified GPA system? It's fucking retarded. Why in the fuck does my goddamn 94 in cellular bio get me a 3.8 and not a 4? Why in the flying fuck does my 90 flat in chem get me a 3.5??? I did not get halfway to a B, I busted ass for a fucking A and they piss all over that and give me a B and a half. This has lowered my GPA a full .3 from what it should be and I swear on my fucking grave if that in any way affects my chances of med school compared to some uppity prick whos school understands what a GPA is, someone will die.
I have NEVER seen that shit before and my shitstain of an adviser this year has had plenty of chances to correct me before I realized my GPA was mysteriously way lower than it should be

I'd blame Obama. lol
I'm thinking surely someone fucked up when I see it. I mean I've calculated it a hundred times because I wanted a 3.7 and I really didn't need to do much other than ace some lolcommunications or lolhumanities classes like my philosophy class.
When I look at my unofficial transcripts (never needed to, I figured 4.0 A 3.0 B was easy enough), I see a gigantic ass glaring 3.29 GPA like what in the fuck. Then I look at each individual class saying the units and stupid ass 3.8 and 3.5 shit that shouldnt be there.
I blame goddamn everyone even remotely associated with government or academia, seedy fucks

meh, these are fairly close to the standard. standard gpa would put cut off at 92 being a 3.7 and above that is the 4.0, so being blended and calling a 94 a 3.8 isn't really off the mark. likewise the 90, which would typically be 3.7. that one is a bit low at a 3.5, but not off by much.
really, and I'm not saying this to be a dick, but this is on you, as well (and yes, your advisor for not explaining it) for not being aware of campus grading policies.

And, largely irrelevant.
Maybe more relevant for a med student, but my college GPA hasn't been brought up or mentioned by any employer in...ever.
Also, in my college med students had different grading scales. Below an 80 was considered failing in anything, whereas all other majors could get away with 60s.

it's definitely much more relevant for someone in rams situation trying to get into med school. which is why it's extra important to make yourself aware of the schools grading policies. that being said, med schools are aware that different undergrads might have different grading policies, and will look at gpa in conjunction with the rest of the transcript, gpa is never a stand alone component.

Back in my MBA program, below 80 put you on probation and two grades below 80 meant bye bye. Even someone getting two grades in one semester below 80 was given the door.

It is. I know what they say about assumptions but jesus this is something I really didnt think warranted studying. I'd never before seen dumb shit like that with GPA. It's like seeing a red light and stopping then getting rear ended because someone decided at this one intersection red means go, and no one informed you.

I hear you. I'd recommend contacting a couple of the med school admission depts you're thinking of applying to and ask them about GPA and explain to them why you're asking. will let you know at least if it's an issue

Actually just sent that email to the CU admissions director
Thing is I turned it off before I left. So the fan shorts or something while I'm gone and it decides it needs to consistently reboot to test if it is still too hot (raising the temperature in doing so) instead of just staying the hell off. The lady I talked to said it's good I caught it because they can cause fires. I was both pissed and elated at that news.
To directv's credit, they were very nice and understanding about the whole thing, they're sending me a free replacement first class to be here by Saturday, and they don't even need the old one back so I don't have to remember to ship it
