Hey guys, instead of taking on a career that enables me to take care of my own needs, I am gonna smoke pot and finger paint. Single payer is important to me because my pot smoking and finger painting will not provide me with enough to pay for my own care, so you should subsidize it.

Because I am not good at "trades."

Yeah...I only do one of those things. Nice try, though.
(Spoiler alert: fingerpainting is grownup slang for some new, brutal shit that Foo is too old to have ever heard of)

lol, always liked the movie Cowboy Way. Probably because when I was a young man, I was more like Pepper and as I got older, became more like Sutherlands character.

So let's re-visit your house buying analogy, if I do not want to buy a house with you guys, but you need my money to make it work, is your solution to force me at gunpoint?
So you never will/have need(ed) medical care ever in your life? Interesting.

No, I support the public option. Allow it to compete with private jnsurance. Watch everyone's health care costs go down.

Single payer is not important to me because my handpicked pot smoking and finger painting employees don't deserve enough wages to pay for their own care, so you should subsidize it when they inevitably end up in the emergency room.

Of course I will, and I fully expect to pay for it. I had insurance long before the ACA ever appeared because I was not willing to risk everything I have earned over a medical incident. I valued that piece of mind above some shiny new toys I could have purchased had I chosen to be uninsured.
Then again, consider that I am not the one asking others to subsidize my life.

I have never taken advantage of a desperate person, sir. I make it very clear that I am trading money for their labor.

I lean towards the public option as well but I don't understand where the significant savings would come in to play. Simply adding a government option like a big giant medicare program that is available to everyone still wouldn't change the actual cost of the care. Private insurance needs to make a profit or it ceases to exist and I don't think the current private insurance companies are gouging a high level of profit overall. Same with the healthcare facilities. The costs are still absorbed by the government if you have public hospitals or public insurance which means that some of us that pay a few taxes once in a while will have to chip in. I support it because I see it as a simple option where people get the care they need and you would still have a private market for people who want a higher level of care.
