anyway, if you look at the teams around us (to whom, admittedly, we lost close games) in the rankings, they don't have any "quality wins" except against each other. I'm in no way disrespecting those wins--damnit, one of those and we'd be in the playoffs right now!--but it is interesting that cork city is the only team in the standings below 8th that beat a team with a winning record (the others have only beaten teams with losing records--which you blast us for). Sweden's army's lone win against a winning team was against IKK.

It's clear there's a middle tier to the conference that includes Sweden's Army, us, Limerick, and Spaniard. Not including us in that tier is foolish.

If you want yourself in that group then you have to add Reykjavik also.
And i disagree with both of you being there as neither has had much chance getting into the playoffs like the 3 others.
JerseyT - you're quite right to say there's a middle tier this season and they're all shooting for that 8th playoff spot (the one that Glasgow used to launch themselves into the spotlight last season). Whether Rekjavik are in it or not doesn't really matter to your point as what matters is that there is a really intense and close battle for that 8th spot between 3-5 teams and that's great. Cork are still an outside bet to get in given their horrible last few games more than anything.

Asmo might not exactly be particularly interested in a career in diplomacy or public relations but him putting up analysis of each round's result is a great thing and has really helped keep things alive here so don't knock him for putting something out there unlike most of the rest of us.

Storm et al, how's about we take it to another thread and see if we can get some rivalry going to keep us all entertained.

If you could arrange to eliminate those guys first and then meet us then I'm sure we can all be happy.

I'll see what we can do I welcome all the rematches really, they were such close games the first time it'll be great to matchup again.

P-Ville is now the Barcelona Blaze. We're under new ownership and we're now essentially a new team.

We'll probably be relegated into a league that better suits our new guys, but be assured that we'll be back in the AA leagues soon enough :-p

Seriously guy, good luck with that. I really hope it works out cause building a team isn't easy....one request though....please don't quit when results go against you. It can be a tough game but I reckon that when you turn the team around, the satisfaction of winning will be all the sweeter.

For those who didn't watch, the game was clinched late in the last quarter, for the most part a great defensive struggle. Scores were 9-7 for most of the second half, a lot of drives stalling just past midfield for both teams.

We're very evenly matched I think.

Well done on that one. Bit pissed off myself!! 6 drops by our WRs.....grrrr!!! Hopefully we can stop that late drive if we meet again in the playoffs!

Second last round of the season and we got several surprises, one actually changing who gets in the playoff.

Alpha:

Frankfurt massacred Cork and seems to be able to get their perfect season now.

Bow Street crushed Reykjavik and is set to take second place.

Glasgow massacred Clydesdale and will now take 3rd place.

Belfast only needed to defeat IKK Fu and they would have the 4th place for sure.
But it became a hard game where neither team managed to get the upper hand.
The first points wasn't scored until 2nd quarter when Belfast failed to score a TD and had to settle for a FG.
IKK Fu got a gift from heaven as Belfast lost the ball in their own redzone abit later, and could easily take the lead with a TD.
Belfast was now slowly gaining momentum, making another FG before halftime.
They continued as the second half started, but yet again were stopped close to the endzone and had to settle for a FG, but still it was enough to take the lead.
After this neither teams defense allowed their opponents offense to get far on their own half.
But as the end of the game closed in on the two teams, Belfast defense started to slip, failing to stop IKK Fu, and with 40 seconds left IKK Fu scored and took a surprise victory.
Belfast is still on 4th, but might lose their home advantage, while this didn't help anything for IKK Fu who is still 7th.

Lyon had an easy win over Spaniards, still holding 5th but with a chance of getting that 4th place.
Spaniards is still on 10th.

Marseille crushed Port St Lucie and still holds 6th.

Limerick met Sweden in a game which would send Limerick to their first playoffs.
But it didn't turn out that easy.
Sweden opened best but where forced to make a FG when missing just inches.
Limerick struck back with a FG of their own though.
After this neither team seemed able to hold onto the ball, before Limerick exploited an interception, scoring a TD just as the 2nd quarter started.
Limerick were pressuring Swedens defense hard, but got stopped twice by interceptions.
Luckily Sweden failed to take advantage of these turnovers.
Second half started with Limerick continuing where they left, but this time thye got stopped in the redzone being forced to make a FG.
As the 3rd quarter went towards the end, Sweden got lucky with a bad punt, forcing Limerick to start at 2,5 yd and giving them a safety.
As Limerick grew tired, Sweden managed to put another FG just as the last quarter started.
they looked sure to take the lead, but got stopped right outside the endzone again having to make a FG.
With under 2 minutes left, Limerick made a FG leaving huge pressure on Sweden.
Then a miracle happened as a desperate 40 yard pass from Sweden found its receiver, securing their victory. (Ironically it was the safety who became the difference)
This means, even tough Sweden now holds 8th and Limerick 9th, neither will make the playoffs, as Spaniards will take it in the last round!

Belgrade secured the 14th place and further play in this division by defeating Recklinghausen.

Zeta:

Berlin crushed Munich, and seem to also be getting that perfect season.

Kilkenny met Shamrocks and it started close with both teams doing a FG, then stopping
the other team from getting close enough to do another.
As they got into the middle of 2nd quarter, the two teams offense started to gain more yards, but still not enough to score a TD.
Kilkenny missed their FG, while Shamrocks didn't and after the first half were leading 6-3.
The second half started, with turnovers flying around.
Shamrocks had the upper hand now, but still only barely got into Kilkennys half.
However Kilkennys defense started tiring now, and as the 4th quarter started, Shamrock scored the games first TD.
Now they only needed to stop Kilkenny to win.
Well that didn't turn out easy as Kilkenny woke up and hit hard.
Luckily for Shamrocks they stopped them a yard from the endzone, forcing them to a FG.
However trying to let the clock run, proved to be a huge mistake as Kilkenny got another chance and this time couldn't be stopped.
TD and OT for the two teams.
In the end Shamrock was the first of them to get close enough to score a FG taking todays 3rd surprise victory.
Still this means nothing as Kilkenny holds 2nd and Shamrock holds 6th.

Rome met Buffalo in a fight over who gets home advantage.
Buffalo started best making 4 FG in the first half against Rome's 1.
In the 3rd quarter, neither team still couldn't manage to score anything but a FG.
As the 4th quarter started, Buffalo managed a great passing play securing their victory.....or not.
Cause their defense completly crumbled after this, allowing Rome to make 2 TD winning the game.
that means Rome is now 3rd looking to have home advantage, while Buffalo is down on 5th looking to meet London away.

London met Tranmere and they actually played close the first half, with the game being tied.
This continued through the 3rd quarter, but then it was stop for Tranmere.
To tired for a 4th quarter, London could score the 2 gamewinning TD.
London holds 4th while Tranmere fell down to 10th.

Vatican massacred Leeds and hold 7th.

Drunken dominated against Koln and won as expected, but had to give up lots of points.
Drunken holds their 8th place while Koln holds their 11th.

Fighting Irish massacred Barcelona and jumped up to 9th.

Vikings crushed Camelot but needs to beat Munich with 6 points and Koln with 13 next round to gain any places.

Frankfurt - Vikings (Frankfurt wins easily, and Vikings probably takes 13th as it would be hard for them to score enough points to beat Munich and Koln)
Bow Street - Munich (Bow Street wins easily taking second, and Munich probably takes 12th as it would be hard for them to score enough points to beat Koln)
Glasgow - Koln (Glasgow wins easily taking 3rd, and Koln takes 11th for reason mentioned above)
Belfast - Kilkenny (The topgame this round with the 4th and 2nd best team meeting eachother. Belfast is unpredictable, but i think Kilkenny is better meaning they hold their 2nd, while Belfast fall down to 5th)
Lyon - Fighting Irish (Fighting Irish is just to weak this season, so lyon wins and takes the 4th place, while Fighting Irish falls down to 10th.)
Marseille - Shamrocks (Hard game to guess, but Shamrocks seems better. Still it doesn't matter as both teams takes 6th place anyway)
IKK Fu - Buffalo (Bufflo should win this securing their 5th while IKK Fu takes 7th)
Sweden - London (London is to good for Sweden securing London their 4th place, while Sweden will fall down to 9th)
Limerick - Berlin (Limerick is chanceless and falls down to 10th.)
Spaniards - Leeds (Lucky Spaniards gets an easy team which will send them up to 8th place and playoffs now, Leeds will keep their 14th.)
Cork - Drunken (Abit hard to guess also, but Drunken should be the better team. Still they won't be better than 8th, while Cork will fall down to 12th.)
Reykjavik - Camelot (Reykjavik also have been lucky and will win, taking the 11th place away from Cork)
Port St Lucie - Rome (Easy win for Rome who takes 3rd, while Port St Lucie hold their 13th)
Belgrade - Tranmere (Tranmere wins this one easily securing 9th)
Clydesdale - Barcelona (Ok whos the worst team? Hard to say, but i think Barcelona will win this one. No matter what, both teams will still relegate.)
Recklinghausen - Vatican (As my famous quote goes, The Vatican might be weak(er) this season, but i doubt they mess up this one . Which means thye will hold their 7th place. )

Good Game Buffalo!! What an exciting one to watch, though I must admit I got pissed and clicked on box score after you scored to go up by 12, I figured we were done.... I almost peed myself when I saw we came back and won. Someday I'll learn that when you have the top passing game in the conference you are never out of it until the game clock is out of time.
