It's strange because law enforcement in my city is an absolute embarrassment yet our county sheriff's department does a very good job. I'm thinking my town is in very desperate need of a new police chief.

Ditto here. County comes out for 'suspicious person' reports with people not even doing shit, someone reported shots fired to city (we're .1 mile outisde city jurisdiction, we get either/or) and city took a good 20 mins to get here with a station 5-7 minutes away going the speed limit

I had a fugitive living two houses away from me for almost a year. The guy had his meth lab busted in another town, jumped bail, stole a car put up for his bail out of impound, was caught by county sheriffs (with 2 lbs of meth, loaded/stolen 9mm, 3500 cash), jumped bail again, and then crashed at my neighbor's house for 10-11 months. His face had been on the local news a number of times and everyone around here knew who he was.

I called the police and told them his whereabouts and two of my neighbors claimed to have done the same. Not only that, but city police had been called to that residence numerous times over various complaints varying from noise complaints to assault. The locals had known for almost a year the POS was living here and did nothing despite the fact many of my neighbors have small children. The guy was finally taken down...by bounty hunters.

Last I heard the guy posted bail (was set at a lulzy 30k) and had jumped bail again. At least he's not in my neighborhood this time.

My personal favorite was when the people living behind me (I live in a subdivision) were having a loud party. Around 2:30 AM a huge fight broke out and I called the police (city). The dispatcher told me they are in their own backyard so there's nothing they (city police) could do.
