Holy shit! We won?

I was feeling pretty good after this...

Up two TDs and getting the ball back at the 36? Hell yeah!

A few plays later, disaster...

Nice comeback by Tampa, but we somehow managed a two minute drive. On 2nd and 13 we manage a 12 yard run and IMMEDIATELY call a timeout. I like it...go for the TD. Nope. We called a TO with 0:26 left instead of bleeding the clock down to :01. Gotta love end of game logic.

GG, but I still can't believe it happened.

I even thought I had the outside covered (according to the discrips and diagrams on the defensive plays), but everyone on the D just starts inside more than they should and then moves further inside at the start and trying to break a block by anyone on the team is impossible on outside plays, whether its a counter spam or screen spam, I even tried some zones against you to see if the guys would stay more outside, but they played just like it was man inside run defense.

I spent time putting in what I thought was the right plays (geared to stopping your screen spam and counter plays, and it wasn't even close, spam offenses are a fucking joke and apparently that is the only way to get to the Top 10 in this game, people who play logical football will never be the top of this game as is. I understand being a 'running' team and a 'passing' team, no team should be able to run the 4 plays in a game and score 80 points.

Without a defensive play creator specific to stop actual plays, not just '2WR, 3WR, etc' the game will always be able to be gamed for the flavor of the month.

I don't blame you, I blame the game and what teams can do to get to the top, which we aren't built for and therefore will just wonder around the 28th rank with no real shot at moving up at this point. I can see why team fold every season instead of sticking around to see what will happen at the next level, they already know.

I actually enjoyed this game more than GLB1 for the first several seasons, but now that people have found the 'flavors', its much less enjoyable heading into the end game for Gen1 players.

why does CB2 run in here instead of staying on his man?

did the forum just go from "screens suck!" to "screens suck!... but some bubble screens work pretty good." in like a 2 week period?

Because defenders, to a fault, like to stay in front of their man based on current trajectory. The WR ran towards the QB so the CB took an angle to cut him off. Screens are just one place this happens to cause massive problems.

Screens don't suck. They can be effective in some situations.

http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/92208/2621005 - Thank goodness we got a deflection!
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/92208/2621336 - Break run block can kill a screen
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/92208/2621460 - Drop...whew.
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/92208/2621780 - Ouch. That one sucked.
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/92208/2621893
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/92208/2621966 - Set up nicely, QB just didn't get rid of the ball
http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/92208/2621971 - Same as above

I don't think screens will ever be the focal point of an offense but they can become an effective portion of an offense.

If you gave an NFL team 6+ yards on every rushing attempt...they wouldn't throw a pass all season either.

This narrows it down.

2WR bubble screens dont suck. 3WR/4WR/5WR bubble screens probably still suck because nobody will block the guy covering WR3, and he defaults to cover WR1 when WR3 goes to block mode.

Also, you can do some HB screens too against Cover 1 Robber because the LB tasked with covering the FB will default to covering WR1 when the FB comes out in lead-blocker mode. This leaves the hapless strongside LB trying to cover a backside HB screen.

Oh, and in general, since its all run blocking based anyhow, pass blocking Offensive line teams probably need not bother.

Still, I'll try it out, since I'm willing to do anything to force a defense to do anything other than simply set back and play 8 dudes in coverage against 3-4 receivers due to rattled.

So, I thought the HB screens to the weakside today for Air Raid looked alright. We got a couple of nice first downs. Would still be interesting to see how it looks against stiffer competition. Santa Clara plays pretty good defense usually. I think we had an X-factor day against them today.

Pass Blocking may not be a big deal for getting them executed adequately.
