I think you mean it sucked for the Pirates to be in the same division as the Astros. Astros move to the AL, Pirates get their first winning season in 20 years. NOT A COINCIDENCE I PROMISE.

That was a hypothetical. And you need look no further than the Utah Elves (the 4th team in Alpha) to see a team that really did quit at the start, and at least consider the possibility that the reason they quit is because they realized they weren't going to win.

I have a question. Are you really okay with a losing team making the playoffs? Are you okay with the idea that a division could send a losing team to the playoffs year after year? Because I think gamma in Oberon is a likely candidate for just that scenario.

Seattle Seahawks won the division in 2010 with an NFL worst record of 7-9. Did the NFL change from a division system in 2011?

If all the teams that don't stand a chance of winning their league quit the game, the game will die. Especially if it happens after just one season of the game. There's no league structure in the world that prevents that, except perhaps something completely absurd like 2-team leagues. You can't put 12 teams in a league randomly and expect that they will all be of equal skill, it's absurd.

The thing to do is to make the game fun even if you're not winning your league. There have been many improvements towards that end with GLB2's design. The biggest of those is the ladder - you will get ladder games against teams roughly your skill each and every season, and you can use that to gauge your own improvement from game to game and season to season even if you aren't good enough to win the league.

Yes, I'm okay with the division leader being under .500. It's going to be relatively rare, but we have a ton of leagues. The NFL merger was in 1970; there have been 43 seasons since then. We have over 30 leagues this season alone; after 2 seasons of GLB there will be more single-season league results than the NFL has had since the merger. And at the end of the day it's not nearly the big deal you make it out to be.

Also, you can't compare the NFL to GLB2.

Do you think the people in the NFC East say

"Shit guys, our division includes the Cowboys, Giants, Eagles, and Redskins. I guess one of us should just not field a team this year."

Except this wasn't a tough division at all this season.

I remember reading preseason commentators saying that Oakland and San Diego should be looking for a top draft pick in the 2014 and that Kansas City wouldn't be a real threat to anyone.

What I don't hear the teams say is, "well, let's not even bother fielding a team this season."

So after reading over all of these comments I will agree that best record is not as good as divisional record but there is one issue I still have that I would like to see altered in the future. Also, please correct me if I'm wrong because I was in a folded league last season so I'm not sure what the protocol here is.

Right now there is a lot of teams folding and this is causing the leagues to get restructured from season to season. I assume a lot of leagues got new teams added into them this season. If this continues to happen than there is a good chance we will be moving around inside the league to accommodate the changes. I am fine with this. It means from season to season. However, once so many teams stop quitting and rebuilding you'll be stuck with a few leagues that will have the same divisions over and over again and this is where I have the potential issue. I'm ok with being in a stacked division or even a stacked leagues. (I actually loved the elite leagues back in GLB1) I have a problem though when multiple seasons in a row you'll see two elite divisions mixed with a base division and you are stuck like this. Its obvious that one of the devisions can't compete with the other but all the teams inside of it are so weak that they still get the same team to the playoffs each year. On that same note the two good divisions are constantly fighting between 8 teams for 3 spots in the playoffs. (I understand that if you can't beat a team in the reg season you can't beat them in the playoffs... actually I'm not, I believe thats bs and you see examples of it every season where a team loses to a team in season and crushes them in the playoffs so I'm retracting this statement)...

I think what Xavori is wanting and I believe would be a nice addition is that if no new teams are added/removed from a league that league does an internal shuffle from season to season. You still get the competition of playing all the teams in your league. This would keep the weak divisions from dominating from season to season. This isn't like the NFL where a division can go from bad to good and without something like this in place you run the chance of weird power divisions over and over again until teams start folding.

*This is a personal opinion/suggestion. I was just suggesting a way of keeping things how they are while still making users like xavori and players stuck in stacked leagues happy that they wont be stuck in the same stacked division season after season for as they are together. I don't think anyone has an issue being in a league tough teams, or even a division, they just have a hard time knowing that season after season they are stuck playing the same competition while other teams get this easy ride into the playoffs without having to try. No one has an issue with this for one season but 5-6 seasons down the road of the same exact scenarios happening is going to get annoying.
